Be the Hands and Feet: Living out God’s Love for All His Children by Nick Vujicic Book Review

In Be the Hands and Feet, Nick Vujicic shared his personal testimony and the lessons he learned in his life. Nick was born without arms and legs and he had to discover how to live his life regardless. Nick opened up about how at first he wanted to be a professional soccer player. The officials turned him down because the other players wouldn’t be able to stop him and it wouldn’t be a fair game. His dad was a pastor and his dad thought an accountant would be a good career for him. Nick didn’t dream of becoming a pastor. He eventually went into motivational speaking and he spoke to many different youth groups. It led to bigger and better things. He soon was speaking at Bible clubs, youth groups, and church congregations and he filmed a DVD called, “Life Without Limb”. In this book, he shared how we can bring souls to Christ and how we can be the hands and feet of Jesus. Even though he lacks limbs, Nick is able to use his life to influence and made a difference in other people’s lives.

Nick Vujicic shared scriptures throughout the book and he looked at the important scripture of Galatians 5:22-23 and the fruits of the spirit. Nick has seen an amazing response when he tells his audience that he loves them unconditionally like Christ loves them. There are many people crying when he shares this. Many people line up to give him hugs and this made him realize how desperately we are all wanting to hear that someone loves us. I wonder how many people would change, if we would truly love our neighbor. Would we see school shooting decrease and stop finally?

I would recommend this amazing book to anyone who is needing to be uplifted and they need encouraged to keep running their race by reaching out to others and building them up. I have always connected to Nick’s story and how he felt so alone and depressed. He thought he had no future when he was in his teens. He eventually found his purpose and he got married and has even fathered four children. If he would have committed suicide back when he was at his lowest point of his life, he wouldn’t have been able to accomplish his God given destiny by reaching out to others and being the hands and feet of Jesus. I liked how the book revealed stories about how others thought outside of the box and they have been able to make a difference for God’s Kingdom. I really enjoyed the foster parents, Peter and Isabel story and how they are faithfully in trying to make sure all of the foster children learn they are loved and that someone cares about them. Some of the kids have been through very horrible situations and they don’t know how to trust anyone. This book will provide encouragement to readers to reach out to others and make an impact on their lives!

In Resync Your Life, Samir Becic is committed to teaching readers how to live a balanced life in your diet, body, brain, spirit, and every facet of your life. He was born in Bosnia, Germany and he started working out at age thirteen. When he was twenty-four years old, he received his green card and moved to the United States. He was a personal trainer in Houston for a local Bally Total Fitness facility. He was promoted to senior director for five clubs and he trained several hundred fitness trainers. He left the company in 2009 to begin his own fitness adventure. He has even partnered with Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church and formed fitness program classes at his church.

Throughout the book, Samir shared personal stories about people he helped to turn their life back around by choosing the healthy lifestyle, meanwhile also growing closer to God. Many of us our obese or overweight and he is dedicated in teaching readers how to change their lives around. He has designed a 28 day program (four weeks) into helping you get more flexible, your muscle mass and becoming more lean, getting the right nutrients into your body to give you energy, tips on how to exercise your brain, and the importance of reawaking your spirit and connection to God.

I would recommend this life changing book to anyone who is ready to change their life around and to become healthier in all aspects of their life. I picked this book because I wanted to begin to lose weight again. I have been eating healthy for 1 week and doing a dance program called, Country Heat. I have also personally began to use a food tracker and track what each meal. I have already lost 3.8 pounds. One of my favorite tips was how important adding lemon or lime to your water. It helps our digestion, it contains antioxidants, boost immune system (who doesn’t need this extra boost especially with the flu/cold season), it contains vitamin C, and it helps to flush out toxins. I have personally began to do this again and I love the lemon flavor added to my water. Throughout the book, he included a helpful list of tips in each chapter to help remember and break down the information to be healthier. He has included a meal plan for each week and recipes. The recipes and the meals aren’t difficult to make. The exercise program has three different levels based on your fitness level. You don’t even have to use gym equipment. He believes in using your own body weight when you work out using his program. This book helped to remind me of how bad high-fructose corn syrup is for our bodies and how it leads to fat storage and who wants that! It also reinforced how trans-fat affect our bodies and how processed foods are harming our bodies and causing us to overeat and become overweight. This book was very eye opening and I believe if readers will follow his program, they will see results in every aspect of their lives!

Capital Gaines Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff By Chip Gaines Book Review

In Capital Gaines, Chip Gaines shared what he has learned in his life and how he isn’t afraid to take risks. Chip Gaines is an entrepreneur along with his wife Joanna. They both founded Magnolia Homes, Magnolia Market, and Magnolia Realty. They both host HGTV’s Fixer Upper. Chip shared how he struggled in school and how in first grade he couldn’t read sentences. He recalled the school dividing up the children into different groups and he was put into the Penguins group. His group would be sent to the gym once a week when it was reading time. Chip always believed in looking at the best in life and he realized that Penguins are very unique birds. They can’t fly but they can swim! He shared some of the success stories of Walt Disney, Albert Einstein, Oprah Winfrey, and Michael Jordan and how they were all unqualified and the world looked down upon them and their personal goals. They were all able to overcome their challenges and they all made a difference in their life. Chip believes everyone has a purpose, and he wants people to go after it with everything you got.

Chip also opened up about how he dreamed to be a baseball player and he was one of the few who made it into a college team. He was later cut from the team his sophomore year. He went into a deep depression and he finally found another passion of his and he started three different businesses in his mid-twenties. He also revealed how he had a couple of challenges throughout the book with running these businesses and how a short trip to Mexico changed his life and made him a better entrepreneur. It also taught him the importance of grace and how he related to the prodigal son after the trip.

He also opened up about how he met his wife. He also shared how it truly is working with his wife every day and being with her constantly. He admitted that they had to learn the importance of not bringing their work home with them. They give themselves room to be themselves and they have learned how critical it is to work together and fight together for their marriage.

I would recommend this life changing book to anyone enjoys watching Chip on Fixer Upper. This is a wonderful autobiography on the life of Chip Gaines. I loved the different principles he shared about what he has learned throughout his life. One of my favorites was the chapter on fear and how the world is teaching us the world is bad and there is hardly any good people left. Chip recognized that most of us live in fear and we let it hold us back from being everything we were created to be. Some of us are afraid to take a chance and pursue someone we like, afraid of going after a job we really want, traveling to another country, and much more. He encouraged readers to take a chance and not to live in fear of the world. Towards the end of the book, he revealed how he tried a “when you will die calculator” based on your health, weight, BMI, and lifestyle choices. He wrote what he wanted his obituary to say about his life and how he wanted to live a life that mattered. I really believe if readers will listen to some of the lessons Chip Gaines has learned and how he chooses to live his life and make every day count, they could also see their own lives improve!
