Unashamed to Bear His Name: Embracing the Stigma of Being a Christian By R.T. Kendall Book Review

In Unashamed to Bear His Name, R.T. Kendall explored the stigmas that come with serving Christ. R.T. Kendall was humiliated and picked on in his childhood because he attended church. He remembered the pain that he had to endure. When he got older, he encountered the people who peer pressured him and he saw how their lives turned out. He now gladly accepts the stigmas that come with following Christ. The book contains Bible stories from Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Leah and Rachel, David, and many more people in the Old Testament. They had to deal with the persecution of being rejected and made fun of for what they believed in. This book will lead you to not be ashamed of the Gospel and being a Christian.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is afraid of standing up for what they believe in. If you’re ashamed to tolerate the stigmas of following Jesus then this book will assist you into overcoming them. I realized the world will not always get the reason we believe in God and his word. Some people just don’t understand what they haven’t witnessed. Being a Christian might cause some to reject what God has appointed and approved but it’s worth the risk and price.  R.T. Kendall did a great job covering all the types of stigmas that Christians will have to experience in their lifetimes. Even though the road will not be easy we have to be unashamed of being a Christ follower.

Reversing Diabetes By Don Colbert, MD Book Review

In Reversing Diabetes, Don Colbert revealed the epidemic concerning the growing number of patients diagnosed with diabetes. He shared the following statistics from the 2011 CDC report, “nearly twenty-six million people have diabetes, or 8.3 percent of the US population” (Page 11). Diabetes has increased rapidly because of the chemicals that are being produced in our foods. Another reason is our society is becoming inactive and not doing any activities that promote good health. The book will teach readers what kinds of foods are healthy and what foods that they will need to avoid. He discussed the hidden contributors that lead to obesity and diabetes. The book also contains a meal plan to guide readers in reducing their waist size. Reducing your waist size lowers your chance of getting diabetes and it helps to control diabetes if you already have it.

I don’t have diabetes but it runs in my family blood line. I learned a great deal of information about taking steps to prevent getting diabetes. I would recommend this book to everyone because it is an extremely important topic that we all have to stand up against. Diabetes can happen to anyone and the book helped me to see the effects and dangers of consuming all the wrong types of foods. The book suggested starting to drink green tea because it assisted in relieving stress levels and scorching fat! “The EGCG in green tea increases the metabolic rate for as long as twenty-four hours and stimulates the body to burn fat” (Page 121). It also helps decrease your risk of getting diabetes and some cancers! I took the book’s advice and have started drinking a few cups a day. I am also started eating healthier foods and working out four days a week. This book is a wonderful guide in becoming healthy and living a long life!

Charisma House has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book.
