I Choose Me: Chasing Joy, Finding Purpose & Embracing Reinvention by Jennie Garth Book Review

In I Choose Me, Jennie Garth has written a self-help book covering how to identify your purpose and rediscovering yourself after a lost. She is best known for her role as Kelly Taylor on the hit TV show, Beverly Hills 90210. The idea of the book’s title come from the scene in the show where her character had to make a choice between Brandon or Dylan. She said, “I choose me.” Later on in her own life, she realized the power of those words. It became a decision she chose to live her life through. In the book, she shared how her marriage failed and it was a slow fade. Resentment took the place of the once intimacy. He was working around the country on a film franchise and they drifted away. She had to learn to deal with the heartache and come back to joy. She explored how we can do this special exercise and write down all of our negative and limiting beliefs. She shared how she used this exercise in her own life and was able to shift her doubt to possibility.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is ready to rediscover their purpose and to learn to choose yourself. This book will assist you in quieting the small voice of negative talk and believing that we aren’t enough just the way we are. This book shared some of her life story but it was mixed with more of a self-help book. It was interesting to read about her life and what principles we can learn from her life.

Rory: The Heartache and Triumph of Golf's Most Human Superstar by Alan Shipnuck Book Review

In Rory, Alan Shipnuck has written a book about Rory McIlroy and his story behind becoming a 2025 Master golf pro. He begins the book by explaining how he asked Alan how Tiger Woods really was in real life. Rory was a fan of him and wanted to know more about the legend. He modeled himself after him. The book went into great detail about his golf wins and lost. Fans will remember the Augusta National and how they cried and cheered alongside him. He took the shot of a lifetime. This book is written by a sports writer so it’s unofficial book.

I would recommend this book to any golf fan and they are wanting to learn more about the life of Rory and how he rose to fame and became a master winner and the challenges he faced.

Never Give Up: God is Good When Life Isn't by Max Lucado Book Review

In Never Give Up, Max Lucado touched on the story of Joseph and how his brothers sold him out to slavery. They literally threw their own brother into a pit and tied him up. They disrobe him of his coat of many colors. Then they all went to have a meal. Max explained how his pit come in the form of a cistern. He compared this to someone being thrown into the unemployment line, someone going through an unwanted divorce, a death, or being abused. Joseph went through abandonment and then enslavement and even imprisonment. He never gave up even when faced with difficult challenges. He eventually rose to be second in command next to Pharaoh. What his brothers meant for evil turned out to be used for his good. It doesn’t happen instantly most times it takes years before we may even realize what the good thing was. The book also contained a 7-day devotional covering statements of strengths to encourage readers to continue on their journey and to remind us never to give up.

I would recommend this awesome book to anyone is dealing with life in a pit and they feel stuck. They maybe feeling the notice to give up. This book is a perfect reminder never to give up on life and to keep moving forward. Joseph never gave up even when he went thru the many different stages in his life. The principles in this book will remind us to trust no matter what we may encounter and to keep fighting the good fight.
