The Bible Recap: Daily Questions to Deepen Your Understanding of the Entire Bible Study Guide and Journal by Tara-Leigh Cobble Book Review

The Bible Recap Study Guide follows the readings and teachings found in the same book under the same title name. The only thing the series of this book is that there isn’t a Bible with it. Readers are free to choose whichever version they prefer. There is however a podcast series available for listeners. The book is meant to be read in 365 days where we can get through the whole Bible in a year. This study guide contains questions to help readers to dig even deeper into the daily readings. Some of the questions ask about who wrote the book of the Bible, why, when, and promises that God declared. The questions enclosed objective, subjective, critical thinking, and ones that will assist you in researching the topics at a deeper level.

The Bible Recap Journal is an additional resource for readers to help readers in writing down their thoughts about what they learned in their reading. She included a section called things I loved/questions/God Shot just to name a few. God shot is a special section dedicated to learning and looking at the character of God. There is also a short statement at the end of each page to understand and pray on.

I would recommend these awesome resources to anyone who is ready to learn more about the Word. The questions are very open and ended and it will cause readers to ponder what God is trying to communicate to us in His Word. I have read some of the actual book and I honestly love the way it is written and how easy it is to follow and to read the whole Bible in a year. This is a perfect time for readings to obtain a copy of the book, study, journal, and listen to the podcast. The New Year is just around the corner and it’s a perfect time to begin. I’m also thinking about restarting over and using all of these resources together to build up my faith and to gain more knowledge about Christ.

Once Upon a Christmas by Dawn Young and Illustrated by Kenneth Anderson Book Review

Once Upon a Christmas is a children’s book that features mystical creatures and legends. It featured santa, a giant, fairies, unicorns, Jack Frost, Rapunzel, the three bears, little red riding hood, and much more. The three bears were at home preparing for a Christmas Eve celebration. They invited over everyone and then suddenly Rapunzel fell into Jack Frost and he accidently blew out air and messed up the decorations and knocked down santa’s sleigh from the sky. All the presents and the sleigh started to sink into the lagoon. Everyone had to work to together to save santa and Christmas.

I would recommend this wonderful book to anyone who enjoys Christmas and they are seeking a brand-new story adventure. Kids aged 1-7 would enjoy this book. I loved how the book brought together many different legends all together for Christmas. Kids will have fun trying to pick out one that they recognize throughout the pages. I liked the message of everyone coming together to save santa and Christmas. The illustrations in this book were truly amazing and very appealing to children’s and parents.

The Story of the Wise Men by Patricia A. Pingry Book Review

The Story of the Wise Men is a Christmas story about the wise men traveling to Bethlehem following the great star. They travelled to see the Great Messiah being born. They brought him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. It is a classic tale of Jesus being born and told by the wise men.

I would recommend this awesome Christmas book to kids aged 1-6. I loved how it taught the journey to Bethlehem and how they were able to meet Jesus. It showed the importance of the star and how it helped guide them to meet the Savior of the world. We need them being the first worshipper to Jesus. I loved the illustrations and how detailed they appeared and how it will teach our children the story of Jesus and the wise men.

Alphabet Love by Rachel Tawil Kenyon and Illustrated by Anna Süßbauer Book Review

Alphabet Love is a children book featuring colorful illustration about the alphabet and what it stands for. For example, the letter M stands for mittens for when it’s a cold day. The book is shaped as a cutout of a heart. The whole book is a love themed kid’s book and how we can share moments with the people that we love and care about.

American Underdog is an uplifting story that demonstrates that anything is possible when you have faith, family, and determination.

My Review:

I absolutely loved this new movie and I enjoyed hearing about Kurt Warner personal story. I’m not a huge fan of football and I honestly haven’t heard much of his story before watching this movie. But let me tell you, all I can say is wow and how much of an entertaining movie it is. It was inspiring to see how he never gave up on his dreams even though he had setbacks. I liked seeing how he was a grocery store worker at one point of his life and how he had to reply on God through the hard times of not having much money. I also loved how he choose to become a stepdad to two children and it shows what upstanding guy he is. It is interesting to watch the love story of Kurt and Brenda and the bond of their children. One of my favorite parts was when he was sitting holding his stepson and they were discussing how they would choose each other. This scene is feature in the trailer and it’s even more powerful when you witness what happens before and after this. I would recommend this movie to anyone who is looking for a positive message about the underdogs achieving their dreams. I will say how much I enjoyed Zachary Levi acting and I thought he did an excellent job at portraying Kurt. I loved him in Shazam and he does an even better job in this role. I also loved Anna Paquin and I loved her since she was casted as Rogue in the first edition of the X-men movie series. Another fan favorite in the film will be the role of Dennis Quaid and he is beginning to become a lead actor in Christian based films. I loved seeing how Hollywood is starting to make more and more Christian based films that have a great positive message. I also enjoyed the music they also featured in the film, there was a great mix of 80’s-90’s country.

David Cartoon Movie- Invest and Become a Part of a Life Changing Movie

My Thoughts:

There is a brand-new project cartoon film in the works featuring the life of David. I loved watching the first few minutes of the film. I liked how animated David appeared and how kid free spirit he has. It was awesome in seeing him have a heart after God and save a little sheep who fell off a cliff. I think the movie will remind us of the underdogs and never to underestimate them. He wasn’t even considered to stand before the giant and he was the only person who was able to slay the giant down with just a slingshot and a stone. I’m excited to see what humor they act to the cartoon and how far they continue into David’s story if they stop at the giant or continue on into David’s legacy. It reminded of the movie, The Star and I think we will see a strong bond between him and the sheep. I think it has the potential to become a wonderful movie telling the story of David. I truly hope they add key voices to the film to make it have the star celebrity power to draw in viewers. Even if they use famous pastors. I’m also hoping they add key songwriters/ artists to write the songs for the film. I can honestly see and hear Matthew West or Casting Crowns music being in the film.

The film still isn’t done yet and they are needing help from viewers like you to make this film possible to go on to the big screen. Right now, you have the chance of a life time to become an investor for this film and help get the message out about David’s life to children who haven’t heard about God or anything about the Bible.

Key Points:

David is one of the most inspiring characters in human history. Warrior, poet, shepherd, and king, David’s life is one of incredible color and energy. It’s the ultimate underdog story. It's about much more than a shepherd boy who took on a giant. It’s a story that can inspire a generation to live more courageously, and love more generously. It has the power to change us.

Sunrise Productions is raising money to fund an INCREDIBLE new animated feature film about the DAVID of the Bible! Think of how The Chosen was started - all through a crowdfunding campaign. And now we get to be a part of it!

Sunrise Animation Studios has embarked on the ambitious journey of making an epic animated movie about David with the humor, music, and adventure of Tangled paired with the biblical authenticity of The Passion of the Christ or The Prince of Egypt. David’s life was defined by his courage, faith and his love for God, while his fallible, relatable humanity has resonated across cultures and generations. DAVID will tell a story that is authentic to scripture, and yet also a wildly adventurous and entertaining epic movie to appeal to every culture! We are creating what we believe will become the most-viewed animated film of all time, by telling the story of David as you’ve never seen it before.

25 Days of Christmas eBook by Arlene Pellicane Book Review

25 Days of Christmas is filled with 10 devotionals for mom and children, 10 family activities, and 5 ways to serve others during Christmas. Some of the fun activities included making cookies, having a silent night to see who can be the quietest the longest, pajama movie night, gift wrap race, and much more. Some of the call to serve ideas is writing a letter to their teacher, dollar tree gifts to bless others, singing to others, delivery dash, and much more.

One of my favorite devotionals was the one that she talked about how Isaiah 9:2. We can be reminded that God is with us in our pain and sorrow. She lost her unborn baby at 26 weeks right around Christmas time. She explained how she learned how to be thankful for every breath she is given and to use it to be a blessing to others.

I would recommend this awesome Christmas devotional to anyone who is looking for a free resource to use during this season. I immensely liked how she included devotions, activities to do together as a family, and even ideas on how to serve others. I loved the idea of writing notes to your teachers and encouraging children to tell their teacher how much they appreciate them. I also liked the idea of dollar time and picking up ideas for a dollar and giving them to your neighbors to bless them. I also liked the idea of having a gift wrap race as a fun game to see who can wrap gifts the fastest. I loved how the book contained numerous ideas to bring the whole family together to love one another and to be a blessing to others like Jesus would this holiday season.

3-Minute Devotions to Laugh and Reflect: Lighten Your Load and Brighten Your Day by Christopher D. Hudson and Stan Campbell and Cartoonist Dennis Fletcher Book Review

3-Minute Devotions to Laugh and Reflect is a brand-new devotional that can be read under 3 minutes to help us laugh and reflect on an important lesson we can learn from scriptures. Each day contained a funny comic, scripture verse, and a short story. This book is written in mind to light up our lives and to experience more laugher and joy.

I would recommend this awesome funny devotional to anyone who is ready to laugh and to have lighthearted topics. I liked how they used humor throughout the book and mixed it with important lessons we can learn from scriptures to assist in our walk through this life. I loved how short the devotional was and how they won’t take up much time. One of the comics included a guy sticking his tongue out at someone. The other guy is staring back at him looking at how immature the other person is acting in church of all places. The headline of the comic discussed that the sermon on spiritual maturity is exactly what this congregation needs. The scripture verse was on James 1:4. The short story explored spiritual growth and how farmers have to be patient in waiting for their crops to grow. It’s the same way with us and spiritual growth. The seed of perseverance takes time to grow and there isn’t a fast-track option. Once the fruit of joy blooms, then we will see and experience a closer relationship with Christ.

The Whole Bible Story: Everything that Happens in the Bible Young Reader’s Edition by Dr. William G. Marty with Troy Schmidt Book Review

The Whole Bible Story is a book to help young readers aged 8 to 12 to read and understand the Bible in simpler terms. The book begins with Genesis and ends with Acts so it doesn’t technically cover the whole Bible in details. It did mention at the very end a little about Revelations. The book contained trivia, what’s the point headlines, illustrations, who’s who, where are we, interesting stuff, and much more.

I would recommend this awesome children’s Bible storybook to anyone ages 6-12. I loved how they wrote it where children of all ages could understand the Bible. I liked how the also try and add a fresh look at the Bible and tried to make some of it more modern. In this book, parents don’t have to worry about their children reading some of the darker topics of the Bible. It’s all kid friendly that still teaches them the overall message of God’s love to His people. I also enjoyed how they included prophecy fulfilled throughout the book to show how previous scriptures all came together. The only thing I didn’t like was how after Acts, they kind of only touched briefly on some of the rest of the Bible. I don’t feel like it was technically the whole Bible. But I get why they might have left some of them out. Overall, still a wonderful book to help children to start reading about the stories found in the Bible.
