The Courage to Change: Saying Goodbye to Good Enough and Embracing the Promise of What Can Be by Joyce Meyer Book Review

In The Courage to Change, Joyce Myer has written a book to guide readers on how to embrace changes and not to run or hide from them. Change happens to everyone and it’s inevitable. She shared how she has seen technology grow in her lifetime and changes she had to endure. In scriptures in multiple places, we are reminded that God doesn’t change and His word remains. At times, it has been difficult for herself to roll with the changes. In her ministry, she shared how about 20 years ago she looked around and saw the crowds getting smaller and smaller. Her son, Daniel was younger and he suggested that she dress differently, get younger bands, and modernize the platform look. They also redid their monthly magazine. She as least was against his changes and didn’t want to do any of his ideas. She saw that she needed to listen and them their ministry grew even more after the changes.

In the book, she explained how she experienced change in herself. She grew up in a tormented childhood and was abused by her own father. When she began her walk with God, she had to heal her soul with God’s assistance. Satan had robbed her of her peace and joy. She lashed out at everyone and was angry all the time. She admitted to feeling cheated in her childhood. She realized that she had to let go of her negative attitudes and mindset in order to move forward. She noticed that she could have a better ending even though her beginning was anything but good. God helped her to overcome and God would repay her for her trouble. She stated how she had to learn to forgive people who hurt her.

One of my favorite chapters discussed on how to let go and let God. She encouraged readers to never be afraid to let go of something that is outdated. Sometimes friendships are only for a season and something we need to learn to realize it was just for a season. She compares this to an example of expired food and how food is only good for a certain amount of time then it will go bad. She enlightened how she had to rework her own schedule because it was making her really unhappy. She was complaining a lot and felt overwhelmed. One of her tips was for readers to write down everything they are doing and then cross out whatever it’s bearing much fruit. Learning to let go of things that aren’t helping us can help us to relax and have more joy. Another lesson in this chapter is forgiveness and scriptures even stated that if we don’t forgive our prayers won’t be answered. Also, if we choose to not forgive, we give satan an advantage over our lives. This chapter can help assist you with bitterness and forgiving others.

I would recommend this incredible book to anyone who is resistance to changes they like to hold on for dear life to the past. Joyce does an excellent job in sharing how she had to go through changes in her life and ministry to allow God to do a new work. The principles in this book will guide readers in embracing changes and to live their lives more fully. It had the power to help you manage your emotions, change your mindsets, and learning how to manage change. There are also discussion questions at the end of each chapter. This book will help you to change!

Graced to Go: Step into the Bigger Bolder Life that Belongs to You by Victoria Osteen Book Review

Graced to Go: Step into the Bigger Bolder Life that Belongs to You by Victoria Osteen

In Graced to Go, Victoria Osteen explored how we can all step into our callings and to choose to not live in fear. A way we can do this is by understanding grace and choosing to go. She begins the book by sharing that people aren’t meant to be struck in life. She revealed that the key to being unstuck is living in grace. Grace is a touch of God’s incredible favor and blessing to accomplish things through His help. We can’t earn grace but we can choose to receive it as a free gift from Him. The word, “Grace” appears 146 times in scripture. She explained how God has tons of scriptures instructing people to get moving and to keep going forward. The very last command from Jesus was “therefore go” before he ascended back into Heaven.

One of my favorite stories, she stated was about how we may need to turn our telescope around. She heard this story about a little boy who was getting bullied. The boy felt threatened and hated to even leave his house. He would do his very best to go the long way around and not run into the bully. The boy struggled with being brave and standing up to the bully. One his birthday, his father gave him a telescope as a gift. One day his father noticed that his son was looking through the telescope the wrong way. He told his dad he was choosing to look through the lens from this angle where he could look at his bully. It may him appear smaller and he wouldn’t be afraid of him anymore. The lesson of this story is something we have to look at things differently and we must realize that we could be magnifying the wrong thing. We can actually shift and change our perspective. We can choose to find the good in all things if we just would look deeper and focus on the positive.

I would recommend this life changing book to anyone who is ready to move forward and to walk in grace daily. Victoria has written another incredible book covering grace and how important it is to live out our lives with as few as regrets as we can. I liked how she looked at many different Bible characters such as, Gideon, Joshua, Caleb, Abraham, Esther, Moses, to name a few and how they faced and dealt with their own circumstances. She encouraged readers to go and to live their lives to the fullest and to see the good and lean onto what God says about you. Each chapter ended with grace thoughts reminders and grace reflections with questions and room to write down your answers. This is a very powerful book that readers will need to learn and reread to get the content deep down into their spirits.

Go One More: Find the Clarity to Make Intentional, Life-Changing Choices by Nick Bare Book Review

In Go One More, Nick Bare explored how to move forward and to turn your aspirations into reality. He begins the book by stating how he asked himself the important question, “why keep going.” He was training for his first marathon in 2018 and it was for a total of 18 miles. He was dealing with the voices in his head telling him that he isn’t a runner anymore. He used to run in the military but no longer was. His body was screaming for him to quit and that his body was tired. He shared how some of our life’s greatest reward is on the other side of going through resistance. He chose to instead run one more. Then simple saying turned into a saying, “go one more.” He got a tattoo posted about his journey on social media and then other people even got tattoos and hats with the sayings on it. It became a mantra and we must choose to not quit and to keep going one more. He also has a YouTube channel that he started in 2014 and has over 1 million subscribers and counting. He has since gone one to run two ultramarathons and a Last Man Standing and he keeps going. He started a business called, Bare Performance Nutrition. His first year he told his dad he was going to make one million. He ended up making around $20,000. It took him 5 years to reach his goal. In the book, he explored different principles and how to transform your mindset to keep going forward.

In the book, he discussed the topic that people will call you crazy. He used the example of country superstar, Hardy. He began as a songwriter for years before he was able to release his own album in 2023. This album grew in sales and helped to make a name for himself. When he won an award at the ACM awards for songwriter of the year, in his acceptance speech he shared how he played a show 7 years earlier, he received in a tip jar the word quit on a napkin. Someone in that show didn’t like his performance and encouraged him to just quit. Obviously, if he would have done that Hardy music wouldn’t have ever happened. Hixtape, which he does with all sorts of artists and collaborations wouldn’t have happened. The Joe Diffie tribute album probably wouldn’t have ever been seen the light of day. His Hixtape ideas in general is brilliant. He then went on to release a rock album, The Mockingbird & the Crow and he went against what the label wanted and pursue a new way of music. Nick instructed people to allow people to call you crazy and to doubt you. Let the root against you. Just keep chasing your own goals and journey.

I would recommend this life changing book to anyone who is ready to go after their dreams and to make the correct choices that matter. I have enjoyed following him on social media and his posts are inspirations. He does a wide range of videos and posts. I really enjoyed the mantra of going one more and the story behind this is truly inspiring. The principles and topics are extremely helpful and beneficial. One of my favorites was if it matters to you, you will make time. This section is so true and can help you to focus on your health and not making excuses. The only thing the book didn’t discuss was the setback and challenge of how he recently got hit by a car while running but this book was probably written before that event happen. He is okay from the accident which I’m sure he will discuss in detail in another book. Readers will be inspired to change after reading this book!

Don't Look Back Getting Unstuck and Moving Forward with Passion and Purpose by Christine Caine Book Review

In Don't Look Back, Christine Caine has written a book about moving forward and not looking back. She begins the book by sharing how in 2020 during the whole aftermaths of the pandemic. She decided to learn how to ride a motorcycle and took lessons. She purchased a Vespa and her instructor reminded her of a powerful saying, “where you look, you will go.” This was life changing for her and it reminded her of where her mind and emotions go. This led her to writing this book and choosing to focus on Lot.

She was instructed to leave Sodom and to also not look back but she did anyways. This cost her to turn into a pillar of salt. Even Jesus said to remember her and this is the only women he said to remember in the Bible. Lot’s wife has the shortest bio and only appears twice. We have to remember she looked back and conducted this is an act of disobedience. She explained how many of us our living in the past and longing for something that once was but isn’t anymore and probably won’t ever be again. We can get struck in our emotions, thoughts, attitudes, opinions, and we wind up struck. She explained empty nest and how she felt it when her daughter grew up and moved. She had to learn how to go through the next phase of her life and not get caught in transitions. She shared how we must move forward and to stop looking back. We have to know our identity comes from God and we have to remember that we are his heirs and where our inheritance comes from. We are chosen, adopted, and we were loved first. We don’t have to live in shame or fear.

I would recommend this life changing book to anyone who is ready to move forward and they are tired of living in their past. This book is an excellent read and filled with the knowledge of how we must choose to move forward and not get trapped in the past. I liked how she went into detail about Lot and what we can learn from this story and she relates it to current themes and situations. This book reminds me of the popular song, Bye Bye by Jo Dee Messina. She also boldly declared that she had her rearview mirror torn off and that she wasn’t looking back.

Hurt People Hurt People God's Hope and Healing for You and Your Relationships by Sandra D. Wilson Book Review

In Hurt People Hurt People, Dr. Sandra D. Wilson has written a book about how we have all been hurt by people and we in turn will also hurt people. She shared one study about how over 70 precent of child abuse is done by children under the age of 18. There are reports of children 12 and under molesting other children. Most of these is probably due to them being abuse by someone before and continuing the cycle of abuse. She shared a story about a Detroit man who shot himself and his wife. He believed he had Lyme disease and there was no hope. The tests showed negative. This disease isn’t contagious and it isn’t fatal.

She begins the book by looking at the binding shame that we face and how this is tied with us believing we must be perfect. It can make us feel worthless. She opened up about how her father was a bigamist and embezzler. He tried to make her end her pregnancy either with an abortion or miscarriage. He even tried to kill her with a gun before the authorities arrested him. She remarried an alcoholic and he became her step dad. She experienced sexually abuse from a stranger, family friends, and a step-uncle. In the book, she looked at how to get help from our hurts such as from liars and thieves, childhood fantasies, childhood choices. There are tons of helpful charts to covey the messages and help you get healing. She approaches a Biblical stance on how God can help us to heal from our hurts.

I would recommend this awesome book to anyone who is struggling with their past and hurts. I really liked how this God was very well written covering our shame and how hurting people hurt others. There is a special appendix showing how we can find our true identity in Christ. These include we are God’s child, we are forgiven, our chosen, can have peace, and much more.

My Review:

This movie is in inspiration movie featuring eight real life stories from unbelievers to their journey to accepting Christ. There is a striper who lived a very risky lifestyle and live for herself and did whatever she pleased. There is Muslim who didn’t believe in God at all and served Allah. There is a miracle of a little boy who was healed from a spiral injury. There is a telling story about witchcraft and how he opened the door in his life and the effects from it. The movie explored real testimonies and how they experienced miracles that they never thought could happen. Scientists and experts couldn’t explain some of them. This film is very eye opening and the stories will leave watchers with a taste of the supernatural and the impossible. It even takes a look at suffering and evil and why God could possible even allow it all to happen. And not everyone received a supernatural miracle they were believing for.
