JumpStart Your Leadership: A 90 Day Improvement Plan by John C. Maxwell Book Review

In JumpStart Your Leadership, John C. Maxwell explored the key principles it takes to be an effective leader. Maxwell discussed the importance of discovering your strengths and weaknesses, your ethics and values, learning about your team members and knowing what they want for the future, complimenting your co-workers, and much more. This book is a 90 day devotional and each day contains a quote from a leader, thoughts of the day from John C. Maxwell, discussion questions, and a section where readers can answer the questions.

One of my favorite days was, “Day 69” because John C. Maxwell shared the secrets to hiring a dramatic team. He suggested that we are most effective in our strength area. He encouraged leaders to let their team work 80% in their strength area, 15% in learning, and 5% outside their comfort zone. I truly believe if hiring managers would actually do this during their hiring process, we could see a change in how successful and productive their business is. Another day, I enjoyed was, “Day 27” because John C. Maxwell revealed about he struggled with trying to please everyone and make his team happy at all times. He eventually realized that it’s impossible and it was hurting his leadership ability.

I would recommend this amazing book to every single business leader and people who are striving to become a leader someday. This book will teach readers the tools they will need to run an effective and productive team. In reading this book, I can see that John C. Maxwell has been in business for a number of years and he has seen firsthand what has works for the overall success of the business and what has harmed and hurt the business. I liked how the book contained questions for each day where readers could apply the new knowledge to their lives and it also had a blank page included where it is easy to take notes. If you’re looking a book to guide you into becoming a better leader, then read this book!

Questions Jesus Asks: Where Divinity Meets Humanity by Israel Wayne Book Review

In Questions Jesus Asks, Israel Wayne explored twenty questions Jesus asked while on His time of Earth and many of these questions included questions He asked the many different people He encountered. Israel Wayne began the book by reminding readers that Jesus was constantly seeking intimacy and unity between Him and God. He did the work of His Father and reply on His guidance throughout His time on Earth. One of the first questions, Israel Wayne discussed was, “Who Do People Say that I Am?” He shared some quotes from different atheists and Christians about who they thought Jesus truly was. Next, he explored the passages where Jesus asked the disciples what others said about who he was. He also asked them who they believed He was. He revealed a shocking poll from Harris (2013) about if people believed Jesus was God or the Son of God, if He was born a virgin, and if he really did rise again. The heartbreaking reality is the numbers have slightly dropped. Some of the others questions, he investigated was, “Why Are You Afraid”, “Has No One Condemned You”, “Why Have You Forsaken Me”, “Why Do You Persecute Me”, “Do You Want to Get Well”, and many more.

One of my favorite chapters was, “Why Are You Afraid” because this one conversed the importance of only having one fear in our lives. And that fear is fearing the Lord (Prov. 23:17). Israel Wayne was very open about revealing when he was a little boy being afraid of the dark until he eventually overcame this fear. Many people in the Bible also struggled with fear controlling their lives. For instance, Abraham, Moses, Joseph and Mary, the children of Israel, and many more. In this chapter, he dug into the scriptures concerning the disciples being afraid of the storm and their boat sinking and they would all die. Meanwhile, Jesus was asleep and at peace while the storm was occurring. Israel Wayne prompted readers to trust God and not fear our circumstances.

I would recommend this awesome book about the questions Jesus asked while His journey on Earth and His departure to Heaven. Israel Wayne did an excellent job at researching all of the questions Jesus asked and answered. I liked how Israel Wayne included countless scripture verses to back up his beliefs. This book taught me a great deal about the power of fear, forgiveness, counseling, healing, suffering, persecution, and much more. I also liked how Israel Wayne wasn’t afraid to cover the topics of money, government, and apologetics. This book will probe believers to dig deeper into scriptures and discover the answers found in God’s written Word.

Bringing Heaven to Earth: You Don't Have to Wait for Eternity to Live the Good News by Josh Ross and Jonathan Storment Book Review

In Bringing Heaven to Earth, Josh Ross and Jonathan Storment have teamed up to explore the power of Heaven that is available to believers on Earth. Throughout the book, the authors look at the meaning of Matthews 6:10 and this verse talks about God’s will being done as it is in Heaven. The book also dug deep into the meaning behind how God is going to create a new Heaven and how the Earth and Heaven will collide. And the good news is that while we are waiting for Heaven we are instructed to love others and be a blessings to others. This book will encourage readers to live their lives that will make an impact on others and bring the power of Heaven to Earth.

I especially love the chapter about weddings. The authors discussed the importance of marriage and how God views weddings. They opened the chapter with declaring the insights found in Matthew 22:2. This verse stated how God’s Kingdom is like a King who has made an enormous feast for his son and his new bride. They pointed out about how Adam and Eve was the first wedding God performed and God knew the strength and power a husband and wife could have together. They also shared the teachings found in the opening of the Gospel of John. This passage talked about when Mary asked Jesus to make some more wine for the celebration of a wedding. Jesus at first said no but then He told the people to fill the dirty jars with water and serve them. The wine turned out to be the best wine. This chapter filled with me with much hope about how God has created Heaven and how He has an awesome place for His people.

I would recommend this breathtaking book to anyone who is longing to discover the critically and awe-inspiring truth about Heaven and how we can have Heaven on Earth. I liked how the authors included tons of scriptures to back up their beliefs. I especially loved the chapter about how to get over the control of the fear of failure in your life. This chapter taught me how I have to realize that perfect love will cast out all of the fears in my life. This book gave me great encouragement that there will be no more pain and heartache in Heaven. But it gave me an even greater call and mission to live my life fully and bring the power of Heaven to Earth.
