But with Scott’s growing faith and Austin’s incredible spirit, they become “unbreakable,” finding joy, gratitude, and courage even in the most trying times — an extraordinary true story about a father and son learning together that every day can be the best day of your life!
My Review:
The Unbreakable Boy is a remarkable true story about Austin LeRette. He loves to talk and share everything to everyone. He loves hats and dripping everything in ranch dressing. He was born with a condition called osteogenesis imperfecta. This causes his bones to break very easily. He has autism. He would organize some of his toys and movies and sort them and then get frustrated and destroy them. Austin is played by Jacob Laval (8 Bit-Christmas).
The film shows how Scott met Teresa and wound up going on a few dates. Scott is played by Zachary Levi (Chuck, Shazam, Harold and the Purple Crayon, American Underdogs) and Teresa is played by Meghann Fahy (The Prefect Couple, One Life to Live, The White Lotus). He admitted how he didn’t even know her last name after meeting up a few times. Then he received the dreaded shocking phone call that she was pregnant. The movie shows his best male adult friend as an imaginary friend and how he would sometimes blame him for his bad behavior.
There is a special scene on he told his parents that he was having a baby. The mother is played by Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond and The Middle). This scene displays how any parent would most likely react when you’re having a kid when you’re not married. There was an awkward moment when he told her that he loved her and later one on how she had been divorced twice. The film shows how Scott had a drinking problem and this led to issues in their marriage. There are very powerful scenes between Patricia and Zachary and a wonderful discussion about mistakes and how we heal are what matters. I really enjoyed how Austin was able to see the sadness in a bully him and his brother faced and what they did in turn to change it around is truly inspiring. There are also some interesting scenes between Scott and the preacher, Peter Facinelli (Twilight) and how he is able to encourage him.
This movie is very inspiring and the acting was incredible. I have always enjoyed the films that feature Zachary Levi and he is able to play the father role to the superhero. This film is like no other. This film is a wonderful movie about Austin and it covered autism, bullying, dealing with health challenges, and rekindling your faith. This story was very impactful in learning to live each day to the fullest. It will be a great one to rewatch again and again.
