The Loneliness Solution: Finding Meaningful Connection in a Disconnected World by Jack Eason Book Review and Giveaway

In the Loneliness Solution, Jack Eason has written a brand-new book on the topic of engaging in meaningful conversations and connections in a world that is addicted to social media and virtual environments. As a society, we are lonelier than ever before and we tend to not engage in real life interactions like we used to. He shared that many of our Facebook friends or other social media accounts are just acquaintances and we don’t meet most of them outside the internet. Many of us are struggling with being lonely and not connecting with friends in real life. Studies from American Psychological Association have found that lonely people have a premature death rate. Cigna found that members of Generation Z claimed to be the loneliest and they are the most connected generation on social media and technology. The elderly is also facing different challenges with dealing with loneliness. In the book, he also explored things that stop us in developing relationships. Some of these included, “independence, busyness, technology, price, delusion of self-sufficiency, compartments, and disconnection of the family”. He also shared a powerful story about a guy who died at 54 and worked at Nissan and Fujitsu and was dead for four months before someone discovered him. This shows the effects of not having any real friends to check in on you from time to time.

The book also looked at how we can form real friendships and have togetherness. He explored scriptures on “one another” and how it is stated in 100 times in 94 New Testament and some were written to the church and some from Paul. They covered unity, humility, and love. In the book, he discussed learning to trust, meeting needs, praying together, supporting causes, and encouraging our pastors who may also be lonely. He also looked at overcoming the roadblocks that are blocking our path to true friendships.

I would recommend this amazing book to anyone who is struggling with loneliness and they are wanting to learn how they can reach out to others and develop friendships. This was written before covid-19 and readers can still apply the lessons found in this book. I do think that with all of the covid-19 and shutdowns and changes people are lonelier than before. I immensely liked how he taught readers how to become the church and to connect with our leaders and pastors and we don’t have to live in isolation. Eventually churches will be able to hold services and things will return to normal and hopefully, we will all become better friends to one another because of everyone not being about to connect with others for most of this year. I liked how he encouraged readers to become authentic and to develop friendship based on covenantal. One of my favorite stories, he shared was about a little boy giving all of his money in his piggy bank to the church and when asked was he worried about not having any money. He replied that his daddy would fill it up again. This was a wonderful example of someone living in Biblical stewardship and giving up his finances to God. I also liked how he included questions at the end of each chapter and a section on how to put it into practice.

Hillsong Kids: Can You Believe It? Songs of Truth DVD Review

Hillsong Kids has recently released a brand new DVD entitled, “Can You Believe It?”. The movie is geared towards ages seven to fifteen years old. The DVD features a few music videos to go along with Hillsong Kids brand new album. The movie contains Funny Man Dan which included two hosts who interviewed some of the special singers who are in the music videos. They also play a few fun games to help kids understand some of the concepts of Christ. They also included special lyrics videos to some of the songs where listeners can sing along with. The DVD also included live in studio of the different songs where listeners can experience the song live and actual see the singers behind the vocals. The movie is only about 30 minutes.

I would recommend this DVD to anyone who enjoys Hillsong and they love their music. The vocals from the singers featured children and teenagers where kids can relate to them. The music videos included kids acting, singing, and dancing. I liked how the songs and music videos was all kid friendly and they displayed kids enjoying their life and they appeared happy and filled with Christ’s love. I also liked how clear the video was and how bright they made the set to help capture kids attention. They showed breathtaking nature scenes throughout the music videos to show God’s creation and to help listeners to worship God. I think this DVD movie would make a great gift for children and I could see it being used in a youth group setting to encourage our youth.

We pray that this collection of fun and vibrant songs, help children around the world to declare biblical truths about God’s love and grace for them.

Hillsong believes that teaching children to love God and others takes place in both the home and in the church. For this reason they seek to partner with parents (the greatest teachers of all!) and with church pastors and leaders, equipping them with great resources. Through fun experiences, meaningful music and ministry that encourages kids to participate, Hillsong Kids presents Jesus Christ and His Church in a relevant way, creating moments which children will never forget.

Tori Kelly - Hiding Place CD Album Review

Tori Kelly is back with her second album entitled, “Hiding Places”. This album has R&B mixed in with some Gospel. The album kicks off with a track called, “Masterpiece” featuring Lecrae. This song talks about how people think of her when she is off key and her life isn’t always going good. This song is a declaration of wanting God to make us a masterpiece and use the good and the bad and make us whole again. Lecrae joins in later in the song and he discussed how we are masterpieces and we don’t need to compare ourselves to others. I really loved how the song begins with a chorus singing and how Tori Kelly voice just joins in and takes the song to another level. It had a heavenly feeling to it and it makes you want to get up and celebrate yourself and give your life to Christ.

Another favorite song was a song called, “Questions”. This song has a piano playing throughout the song and this song she questions God and how she struggles with the death season of life. It covers topics about bombs, AIDS, and fighting around the world. It also asks the question of what happens when the healing does ever come. This is a very powerful song and it was much needed in the mist of all the chaos of the world.

One of the singles off the album was called, “Never Alone”. This song discussed about how we all go through pain and storms of life and how we have all fallen. It also explored how we all compare ourselves to one another and how God loves us for whose we are. This song reminds that God is always there for us and how He is always calling us His child. I love how this song included a choir and Kirk Franklin joins in on the song to add a powerful gospel feeling to the song. This is another track that had a get up and move vibe to the song.

Another favorite song was the soulful song entitled, “Soul’s Anthem (It is Well)”. It contains some of the classic song of “It is Well” but it’s also mixed with personal lyrics. This song talked about how we need to reply on God when we are depressed and fear from the enemy is trying to control us and trying to prevent us from living our lives. I loved how Tori’s vocals shine through this track and this could be an anthem declaring that no matter what happens it is well with our souls.

I would recommend this album to anyone who loves R&B and Christian music. Tori Kelly has an amazing voice that shines through each track. The lyrics are well written in a time where Christians and non-Christians need hope and joy to come into their lives. I loved how the album had songs you could move to and how it also had slow song where you could peacefully worship the Lord. If you’re looking for a new album, then check this one out!

Matthew West – All In Album Review

Matthew West is back with a brand new album called, “All In”. It features 14 new songs and one of the songs features his daughter Lula West. The album begins with the title track and it describes how we let fear run our life and we’re living with regrets. Matthew West writes about how he wants God to say well done at the end of his life. He declares that he’s going all in and he’s committed to running his race and finishing it with everything he’s got.

Another favorite song is entitled, “Mercy is a Song”. This one discussed how God is able to forgive us and how he can remove our chains. This song is a praise song shouting hallelujah and about how we are redeemed by Jesus and we will have a mansion in Heaven waiting for us. I also loved how Matthew West added an amazing choir to the background vocals to give it a churchy and Heavenly feeling.

Another favorite song is called, “Amen”. This one reminds me of something Andy Grammer. This one explained about how he wanted to share his story to the church and how he is a new creation in Christ. This is a very happy tune and an amazing praise and testify song about what God has saved us from.

Another favorite song is, “The Sound of a Life Changing”. This one described how Matthew West first started writing songs about how he was watching Steven Curtis Chapman performing and God told him that would be him someday telling the world about God’s amazing grace. The song talks about the song of life changing and hearing our dreams coming alive.

I really enjoyed the song, “Something Greater”. This one talked about how Matthew West went to Nashville and he thought he was just signing a record deal. When he was in Nashville, he fell in love and got married and had kids. This song declared how there is something greater happening and we’re a part of a bigger story. I loved the vocals on this track and I can hear this one making it as a single on radio.

“Jesus and You” reminded me of the vocals and style of John Mayer. This one talked about how the world is out of control and we’re hanging on. This one drew a picture of seeing a lighthouse in a hurricane and how it’s helping us to find our way back home. It also discussed the power of when we can hang on to our spouse and trust Jesus, and how they both forgive us for our wrongs. One of my favorite lines was when Matthew West talked about our ring on our fingers and how Jesus has scars on His hands and they both promised forever. I could see this song being played in weddings it has the slow tempo that couples would love.

This album has tons of amazing songs that listeners can relate to and connect with. If you’re ready to be “All In”, then download and purchase this album!

Matthew’s heart behind the album:

Matthew wrote his new album All In with the goal of encouraging himself and others to get up off the sidelines of their faith and really live it out – to go all in in your time with God, all in with your family, all in with your community, and all in battling your fears that may hold you back from becoming who God made you to be. Along that same theme, Matthew will be launching a 6-week All in Challenge on his social media starting 9/18, and each week Matthew will be challenging his fans to go all in in a different part of their lives. What does it look like when a heart that knows Jesus takes a step and holds nothing back? How can we go All In in the places that mean the most?
