Welcome to College: A Christ- Follower's Guide for the Journey by Jonathan Morrow Book Review

About the book:

Is there a more frightening question for a graduating high school senior than "What will you do with your life?"

In college, whether they realize it or not, students will answer that question every day with each decision. All of the new friends and new experiences of higher education will shape their future. It's critical that students know how to handle college before they're in the thick of it.

Jonathan Morrow tackles the tough questions that arise during these formative years, including:

-How do you grow spiritually?

-How do you manage your time to both study well and have fun?

-Is all truth relative?

-Are there good reasons to be a Christian?

-As a Christian, how should you view issues like dating and sex?

Each chapter of this new edition has been updated, and the author has included a new chapter on Christianity, homosexuality, and the Bible. Grounded in both his own extensive experience and biblical truth, Morrow's book is full of quick, easy-to-read chapters and excellent advice.

My Review:

I would recommend this awesome book about college to every single high schooler and first time college student. This book contained over 40 different topics about what a college student could face in college. I liked how Jonathan Morrow described how important faith is and how to take a stand and how important it is to know what you believe before you enter college. He also shares what different science theories believe such as evolution and the problem with their views. I also appreciated how real he was throughout the book and how he strongly encouraged students to go to class, how important reading and writing is, studying, working ahead, and discovering your learning style. He also shared how critical it is to not be lured into getting credit cards because they are giving away a free t-shirt, food, or anything else if you sign up. I also liked how he talked to the guys and girls in two separate chapters about what each gender will encounter and what character qualities each of us can focus on becoming. I loved how he wasn’t afraid to discuss topics such as dating, sex, homosexuality, and alcohol and what the Bible says about the different topics. Jonathan Morrow has done an amazing job at revealing what a college student will face during college. If you have a high schooler going into college, let them read this book!

Lethal Harvest: A Novel by William Cutrer and Sandra Glahn Book Review

Lethal Harvest is a book about Tim Sullivan who worked at The Center for Fertility Enhancement and he is desperately trying to find a cure for his uncle, who was also the president of the United States. His whole male relatives had a condition called akenosis, which causes the whole motor system to shut down over time. He was dead set in researching embryos and genetic manipulating them in order to find a cure. He turns up missing and people are trying to figure out what happened. One of Tim lab partners accidently used the wrong eggs and instead creates twins of their mother and this cause chaos to erupt. His wife, Marnie and one of his lab partners, Ben McKay team up to try and find out the truth of his disappearance.

I would recommend this awesome book to anyone who enjoys reading a medical thriller. I loved how the authors described the medical research behind reproduction and cells. You could tell they knew a lot about how to explain where readers could understand what does into cells research. I liked the character of Marnie and how the authors shared her struggles with believing in God and how she begin to trust Him. I liked how the authors shared how Tim and Marnie marriage struggled when Marnie became pregnant and how he wanted an abortion if it was a boy and how she wasn’t going to. It turned out to be a girl. But this was the first big thing in their marriage that she struggled with forgiving him for his harsh words. I think this was what helped also to try and find a cure for this disease. He didn’t want anyone else to go through the pain of losing the men in their family. I loved how the book contained a great deal of mystery and I also liked how the book showed the lawsuit and the court room battle over the embryos. I loved how exciting it was to read! I feel like I was taught a lot about fertility centers and what all goes on during their procedures.

The Lion Comic Book Hero Bible by Siku, Richard Thomas and Jeff Anderson Book Review

My Review:

The Lion Comic Book Hero Bible is a brand new comic book style Bible intended to appeal to children and young teens. The comic Bible begins at the very beginning of creation and ends with Jesus triumph return we are still waiting for. The Bible contains very colorful illustrations and you can tell it took a great deal for time for the artists to craft every single design. I loved how the comic Bible looked like I was reading the latest episode in the X-Men comic book series. The cover was very well designed in order to lure children into wanting to learn about the Biblical characters. One of my favorite scenes was when Joshua and Caleb had no doubt that God could protect and help them defeat the massive giants. These giants was portrayed tough and they looked like evil villains you wouldn’t want to come across. I would recommend this amazing comic book to children and young teenagers. This comic Bible would make a great introduction to children who are eagerly wanting to learn more about our loving Creator and the lessons found in scripture. I enjoyed reading this dynamic new comic Bible and I highly recommend it, if you’re a fan of comics!

About the Book:

A stunning new comic book version of the Bible now given the superhero treatment by the team behind The Lion Graphic Bible and The Manga Bible

The story of the Bible is a unique tale of origins and cosmic powers; of the ageless battle between good and evil; of human potential and human treachery; and of a Messiah--a savior for the world. This is indeed the stuff that graphic novels are made of. Superheroes are the biggest comic genre of all, with many heroes having their origins in biblical characterization and imagery. This is the first Bible retelling to engage with and challenge the superhero genre.

The Lion Comic Book Hero Bible is a dynamic expression of the Bible's depth and power, produced in the style of Marvel™ Comics. You've heard of Spiderman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Now meet Earthman, Lawman, Warrior Man, and many others. With dynamic illustration using a range of styles, Siku (Old Testament) and Jeff Anderson (New Testament) bring the Bible stories alive for a new and graphically sophisticated generation.
