Church People Movie Review and DVD Giveaway

CHURCH PEOPLE is now available on DVD & Digital!

• CHURCH PEOPLE is a Christian comedy about the megachurch mega production sub culture and getting back to the simplicity of the Gospel, starring Christian comedian Thor Ramsey, Hallmark Channel’s Erin Cahill, Stephen Baldwin, Donald Faison, and NSYNC’s Joey Fatone.

• We could all use a good laugh right now, and Church People is a movie your whole family can LOL to from the comfort of your own home!

• This film has a powerful message about rediscovering your passion for Christ and learning to surrender what you hold dearest, all told in an incredibly humorous way.

• Synopsis:

Weary from the showiness and materialism that has overtaken his ministry efforts, Guy (Ramsey) goes on a journey to get back in touch with the heart of ministry and be a real role model to his youth group kids. He makes the difficult decision to cut short his speaking tour managed by his money-focused agent (Faison) after realizing that his reputation has become more fame based than Gospel-driven. But when Guy attempts to return to regular youth ministry, he is thrust into the throes of dissuading the youth group from performing a strange and potentially blasphemous stunt for the upcoming Easter service, starring a young, zealous new Believer, Blaise. In attempting to manage his youth group while navigating an unexpected love interest in the Senior Pastor’s daughter (Cahill) and being a new father to his grown daughter (Manfredi), Guy ultimately rediscovers and puts on a powerful presentation of why we all need to put our hope in Jesus and not in ourselves.

My Review:

I watched this movie for the second time in over a year. I was reminded about how a lot of churches/speaking engagements try and add fun activities in order to lure in new believers and to keep it fresh where people will keep returning. This movie is all about trying to focus just on the Gospel and the true message. Joey Fatone buys a over the top character and he sings constantly trying to impress the pastor’s daughter. He is attempting to win her in marriage. In viewing it a second time, there is parts you forget about. One of these was the character Blaise and how his parents are a “yes” parents’ system. They allow their son to do whatever he pleases. He wanted to be the one to participate in the crucifixion reenactment and his parents were all in support of it. It has a powerful message about not forgetting the true message of Christ instead focusing on the teaching of the Gospel.

Church People Movie Review and Giveaway

Church People is a new movie covering a mega church and how the youth pastor and some of its leaders have lost touch with the true Gospel. Guy is the youth pastor and has decided to take a break from public speaking and to get back to his local church youth group. He is ready to rediscover his passion and to get closer to Christ. They showcased the pastor speaking events with beach balls and he started to resent how popular they have become. His senior pastor, has decided to host a real-life crucifixion at the church for an upcoming Easter event. A young new believer, Blaise has agreed to take the nails into his skin and be the represent of Jesus. Meanwhile, the senior pastor daughter comes back into down and becomes a love interest for Guy. Also, to add drama to the mix, the worship leader is also interested in her. Guy also is reconnected with his adopted daughter and movie watchers will get to see how Guy handles this event. Throughout the movie, we will witness church people rediscovering the meaning found in scripture and what the Gospel really means.

I would recommend this awesome movie to anyone who is seeking a family friendly Christian movie. This movie reminded me more of a TV series style than an actual movie. This movie has the power to assist believers into diving into the meaning of the Gospel and not focusing on religion or falling for the mega church hypes. I liked how the movie shared the important truth of not just trying to entertain our congregation but we need to be preaching the Gospel and how we are supposed to love our neighbors and display Jesus’ love to all. I enjoyed how the film portrayed different types of people in the church and how it added humor to the film to engage the audience. I also loved how it had great cast members in the film such as, Donald Faison, Stephen Baldwin, Carla Finney, Joey Fatone (NSYNC), Thor Ramsey, and Mike Lindell. They all brought a dynamic to the film and they all have a way of entertaining the audience. I do think the storyline could continue in a future film.
