Medical Judgment by Richard L. Mabry, M.D. Book Review

My Review:

Medical Judgement is a novel about Dr. Sarah Gordon who has recently lost her husband and daughter in a terrible car accident. The book starts out with a scary house fire scene that someone intentionally set. She discovers that someone is stalking her and watching her every single movement. She tries to get help from her husband’s best friend and she also reaches out to a detective for help in trying to figure out who is stalking her. Every character has a story and a past that will be revealed throughout the book! This book’s plot will lure you in!

I would recommend this awesome book to anyone who enjoy a thriller. I have read a couple of books by Richard L. Mabry and I can tell that he is only improving in his writing. I loved how I kept having to change my opinion of who was behind the crazy things occurring in this book. I loved how the book discussed the topics of losing someone you love, finding healing, finding love again, moving from the past, and rediscovering your faith. I loved how Mabry shared how Sarah struggled with her faith and how God was always present in the challenges and storms. I also liked how the book explored the different dynamitic of the characters and we get to see many different aspects of their lives. I believe this helped keep the plot interesting and it kept the suspense going. This book would make a wonderful summer read and would be great for a beach trip!

About the book:

Dr. Sarah Gordon lost her husband and daughter. Now she's about to lose her life.

Her late husband's best friend, Kyle Andrews, and a recovering alcoholic detective, Bill Larson, are trying to solve the mystery before it's too late, and they're both trying to win her heart, too. Not only does Sarah feel torn between two men, she also feels as though she cannot trust anyone.

Miracle Drug by Richard L. Mabry, M.D. Book Review

In Miracle Drug, Dr. Ben Lambert tragically died from an apparent heart attack. His body turns up missing and is later recovered cremated before they could perform an autopsy on him. Dr. Lambert is the personal physician to the former President of the United States, David Madison. Before he died, Lambert recommend Dr. Josh Pearson if something was to happen to him. Dr. Josh Pearson becomes former President Madison new physician. Josh’s girlfriend, Rachel went to South America for a special trip along with the Madison and a small group of people. Rachel and Madison develop a cough and had a raw throat. Dr. Pearson believed they both have diphtheria and they were supposedly given immune shots before their trip. They are in both need of a miracle drug to heal their bodies. Meanwhile someone is trying to kill the former president. Will they succeed? Will they have enough antidote for the both of them? Will Dr. Pearson have to make a difficult choice on who gets it? Who killed Dr. Lambert? Many questions will be answered in this book!

I would recommend this amazing book to anyone who enjoys medical mystery novels and they love a good adventure. I liked how Dr. Richard L. Mabry, M.D. explains the medical terminology in way a non-medical background can understand what occurs. I also loved how he described the steps and process it takes for the FDC to approve new drugs. I have read a few books by Dr. Mabry and let me tell you, his stories keep getting better and better. His new book is very fast paced and it will grab the reader’s attention until the case is solved. I liked how Dr. Mabry was able to keep me guessing on who was behind the crime and who was attempting to assassinate the former president. I also liked how the book enclosed discussion questions to assist readers into digging deeper into the meaning of the story. I also liked how they included the first chapter of his next book, “Medical Judgement”. I can’t wait to read his next book! If you’re seeking a new mystery book, then read this one!

About the book:

Miracle Drug
(Abingdon, September 2015)

Overcoming these odds will take more than a miracle drug---it will take a miracle.

The infection wasn't supposed to happen, but it did. The treatment was supposed to take care of it, but it didn't. Then Dr. Josh Pearson discovers why---his patients, including the former President of the United States, have been dosed with a different strain of the original virus, one that is universally fatal. The only chance for survival is treatment with an experimental drug, but the manufacturer might already have discarded its supply.

As if treating the President of the United States isn't stressful enough, the situation goes from bad to worse when Rachel Moore, a nurse Josh is falling in love with, falls ill. With the nation's eyes on him, Josh must pull off a miracle to save a man who holds a good deal of power and the woman who holds his heart.

Stress Test By Richard L. Mabry, M.D. Book Review

Stress Test is a fiction novel that contains loads of suspense for the reader to enjoy. This is the first book that I have read by Richard L. Mabry. I can truly declare that he knows how to write an intricate plot that will engage readers into the very last page. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to read medical, mystery, suspense, romance, and adventure filled novels. I deeply connected to Matt’s, who is a likeable doctor and he is exceedingly determined to save the patients’ lives. He has a dilemma and is being framed for a murder that he didn’t commit. I extremely don’t like when the innocent are being set up and injustice is taking place. Sandra is a lawyer that is struggling to find love and she prays to God one day to guide her in finding her husband if he even exists. God heard her prayer and throughout the book you will see if God does indeed have a husband for her. She also represents Matt and she tries to prove that he truly is innocent of the murders.

I immensely loved the Faith aspect of the novel, Matt wasn’t trusting God and didn’t really understand God’s love for him. But when circumstances began occurring and he has no one else but God to turn to. He starts praying again for the first time in years to be set free from the murder charge. Sandra on the other hand was a professing believer and has trouble dating doctors because of her last bad relationship with a doctor. Both of these characters have a lot they must overcome and deal with. The novel gave me encouragement that I should continue seeking God in finding my wife and the book displays that God can turn anything around. The book also had massive amount of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. If you’re looking for a new exciting fiction novel to read, then this one will definably influence that God is in ultimate control and he can turn everything bad to good. The novel left me with a sense that God is directing our paths if we don’t see how everything is going to work out.

About Stress Test:

They may not have enough evidence to convict him, but they have enough to ruin his life.

Dr. Matt Newman thought he was leaving his life in private practice for a better one in academic medicine. But the kidnappers who attacked him as he left his last shift in the ER have no such plans-they just want him dead. Bound and in the trunk of his car, Matt's only thought is escape. He does so, but at a price: a head injury that lands him in the ICU . . . where he awakens to discover he's being charged with murder.

Sandra Murray is a fiery, redheaded lawyer who swore she was done with doctors. But when Matt calls, she knows she can't walk away from defending someone who is truly innocent.

Matt's career is going down the drain. His freedom and perhaps his life may be next. But with the police convinced he's a murderer and the kidnappers still trying to finish what they started, finding the truth-and the faith to keep going-will be the toughest stress test Matt has ever endured.
