Soul Care for the Battle: A Guided Journal by Susie Larson Book Review

A Soul Care for the Battle is a new journal to go along with her book Strong in Battle. She begins the journal by sharing how when the storm rage how we first lose our sense of direction. This journal will assist us in taking inventory of our life and connecting with God on a deeper level. The book first explored the topic of trials and how we view them and what we tell ourselves impacts the warrior we are supposed to become. She encourages readers to write down the current battles that is pressing on us, most concerning, background noise but bothersome. Each section included scriptures, spaces to write down our thoughts, questions, and a wide variety of tools to grow in our walk with Christ.

I would recommend this awesome journal to anyone who is seeking one to help them prepare for battle and to stand strong. One of my favorite things was when she discussed faith declaration and this stated how we speak with authority, how we are blessed, how we will triumph over our enemy. Another favorite area she covered was the thoughts that don’t belong in our brain. We can do this by instead focusing on redemptive phrases such as Ephesians 2:10. I loved how helpful the book was in writing down your thoughts and growing in our faith. This is a great tool to use in strength training to prepare for battle.

Strong in Battle: Why the Humble Will Prevail by Susie Larson Book Review

In Strong in Battle, Susie Larson explored how we gain victory and to know who you are. She first opened the book by sharing in detail how she was awakened at night that her youngest son, Jordan was going to die. She remembers falling to her knees praying to God for his protection. She was experiencing a trauma fear and this occurs when the devil tries to instill fear that traumatizes you and tortures your thoughts. She shared how she wished she would have handled it differently and prayed from authority that Jesus is in complete control. Jordan is fine and she stated how he did die in some ways to his flesh. She explained how she learned to battle and how we are going to win our battles. We must walk intimately with Him and learn to love more deeply.

Another story she opened up about was how in high school she was a varsity cheerleader and a gymnast. She shared how a few teenaged boys left her insecure. This led her to not fitting in with others including her cheerleaders’ friends and she didn’t fit in their circles. She remembered as she got older, she felt like she was struggling with an imposter syndrome. One day everything changed when she prayed to God and felt God telling her that the circle of fitting in is all an illusion. In heaven, it has no value and everyone is included and loved. She shared examples of key Biblical leaders who were viewed as outsiders: Joseph, Ruth, David, Moses, just to name a few. For example: She shared how Joseph was an outsider and rejected by his brothers and eventually he became a key factor in saving their lives and the nation. God used people who were considered outsiders to accomplish things for His Kingdom.

I would recommend this awesome book to anyone who is ready to prepared for battle and they want to discover key secrets in winning the war. One of my favorite things was when she described the lion and how we have to close the door to worry. The faith declaration she included in the chapter, “You have an enemy” is very powerful and this one could change lives and empower you over the enemy. The book also included a study guide filled with questions. She broke each chapter into the “humble way, discern the fiery arrows, say no, say yes, declaration, prayer, and a special section entitled spiritual intelligence training”. I especially loved how helpful these study guide type revealed key reminders in growing more inmate with Christ.

May His Face Shine Upon You: 90 Biblical Blessings for Mother and Child By Susie Larson Book Review

In May His Face Shine Upon You, Susie Larson has written a new devotional that covered blessing for mother and child. Each day had a scripture verse and a blessing. She explained how words matter and reminded readers how the enemy has goal to steal, kill, and destroy us. She stated how we all remember the first negative spoken word against us. This book is geared to help us to speak positive faith filled verses over our lives. Some of the topics included in this book: delivered from sin, God’s faithfulness, God’s favor and power, joy, promises of God, leadership, wisdom, fear, bullies, and much more.

I would recommend this life changing book to every single mother and child. This book has the potential to change both of their lives. It would make a wonderful gift for Mother’s Day. I immensely loved the scope of the book and how each day the children’s declaration was written where it would be easy for them to understand. I think this book would be great for all ages and for mother’s, especially to share this daily bonding time with their child. I liked how each day was positive and was such a great encouragement. I loved this green cover design and how it showed cereal and coffee and how it appeals to mothers and child. I also liked how they enclosed a tan ribbon bookmark to make it easy to keep track of where you currently are in the book.

Prevail: 365 Days of Enduring Strength from God’s Word by Susie Larson Book Review

In Prevail, Susie Larson has written a brand-new devotional that covered the whole scope of the Bible from Genesis to Revelations. She discussed throughout the book about how God is our strength and our shield and through Him we can prevail. The book also contained topics by subjects that will allow readers to study what the Bible says about them. These included, “healthy thought life, strong and courageous, power of perseverance, power of prayer, protection from enemy, spiritual warfare, worry, promises of God, authority in Christ”, and much more. Each day included a scripture passage, a story describing the lessons found in the story and how we can apply it to our daily lives, additional reading passages, a flourishing thought, and a prayer.

One of my favorite passages and stories, she shared was on day 244 and this day looked at Luke 10:19. It discussed our authority over the enemy and how we can walk among the snakes and scorpions and crush them. We will be protected and not injured. She shared her own personal story about her battling Lyme disease and she struggled with neurological symptoms all over her body. She opened up about what God revealed to her during this time and the fears she was facing. God showed her how she had to learn how to take authority over the enemy and that she needed to be in awe and marvel that her name was written in the Book of Life. She had to learn to rest in the fact that she was saved and the miraculous power found in Christ. I connected to this one because I too have experienced and was treated like I had Lyme disease years ago and I could only function on antibiotics. Eventually, I was healed and experienced pain free symptoms.

I would recommend this awesome devotional to anyone who is seeking a new devotional that offers encouragement in our walk with Christ. I liked how she wrote the devotional and covered the whole Bible where readers can learn things from each passage and apply it in our daily walk. I also liked how the book included bright colors to make it appealing to the readers and it changed every few days to keep it refreshing and new. I also enjoyed how it had a ribbon bookmark enclosed into the book. I immensely liked how she discussed the topic of our authority in Christ and not to be overly concerned with what other’s think about us. I appreciated how open she was in sharing that she struggled with insecurity and how God has helped her to become whole. I have only started reading some of the days but I will continue reading this devotional because it contained helpful stories, and it will help me in my walk with Christ and it will provide much needed strength. It will help me to prevail during whatever, I may be facing for that day.
