The Fire of Perfect Love: Intimacy with God for a Life of Passion, Purpose, and Unshakable Faith by Steven and Rene Springer Book Review

In The Fire of Perfect Love, Steven and Rene Springer explored the importance of having a fiery love as the main goal of your life. They begin the book by sharing how the distortion of love is becoming common. We are losing our sight of God, there is a lack of loyalty, no real intimacy, immoral sexual behavior, catching after wealth, family dysfunction, racism, and much more. A large number of people are looking for love and acceptance wherever we can find it. They revealed how we need to love God first and when we experience this type of love this will in turn cause us to love others. They included a helpful list on how Father God expressed His love to us. These included, “gives life, is intimate, delights, generous, makes everything beautiful, protects and gives freedom to choose, redeems, clothes and covers”, and much more. They also took it a step farther and covered Jesus and the Holy Spirit and how they also express love to us.

One of my favorite chapters was about our identity and how many of us are lure into finding our identity in titles, labels, and causes. They explained the difference between our being and relating. They shared how Martha found her identity by who she is and not by what she does. We need to also focus more on our seeing ourselves as holy and righteousness. We can let our old sinful nature to die. Steven also shared about how he had a son out of wedlock before he became a Christian. He explained how the world would refer to him as illegitimate or a mistake. He clarified how we are all created in love and Christ destined us and planned for us. They explored how when we know who we are in Christ, then we will display boldness, rest, inheritance, and Kingdom authority.

I would recommend this life changing book to anyone who is ready for love to transform and change their entire lives. I loved how they touched on our identity in Christ and how we can navigate the journey to perfect love. This book can assist readers into stepping into their nature as a saint and become fearless. I liked how each chapter enclosed journey to perfect love and it contained declarations, a prayer, or questions. This book can help you to share the love and spread it around. There are also helpful videos to accompany and go along with the message of the book.

Walk on: From Pee Wee Dropout to the NFL Sidelines--My Unlikely Story of Football, Purpose, and Following an Amazing God by Ben Malcolmsom Book Review

In Walk On, Ben Malcolmsom opens up about how he discovered his purpose and how God used him in unexpected ways. Ben was a journalist for the USC school newspaper, The Daily Trojan. He decided to secretly join the walk on try out for the Southern California Trojans football team to get a firsthand story about the experience of trying out. He hasn’t played football since he was ten years old. He was determined to never to play football again because he hated it. He also weighed only about 165 pounds at the time and wasn’t a big guy. He was only going to be trying out just for the story. But God had other plans. He was picked to be on the team partly because he was a fast runner and he believed that Coach Peter Carroll was playing a prank on him by selecting him to be a walk on player. It wasn’t a prank he did make the team and he made the roster for wide receiver. He was picked on and laughed at by a few of his teammates when they discovered he was a reporter. Throughout the book, he shared about how he loved to be a counselor at Deerfoot which was a wilderness camp for boys. He opened up about how his faith became real for him when he was a freshman. His faith helped him to be a witness for Christ on the football team even while encountering setbacks and challenges. He injured his shoulder again and was kicked off of the team. He had to choose to preserve and fight for his spot back on the team. Readers will strongly be encouraged and their faith will be strength by reading about how Ben found his purpose and how God used him.

I would recommend this amazing book to anyone who enjoys reading a story about adversity and overcoming the odds despite the fact that the odds are against you. I haven’t ever heard of Ben’s story prior to reading this book. I connected with the fact that he was a new reporter and was considered to be unqualified to be a football player. But he found his way amazing placed on a football team. I loved how he included special thoughts and scriptures at the end of all the chapters. He had great takeaways about being on the sidelines and still believing that God has a hope and a future for you. I really enjoyed reading this book about his journey through his news writing career and how everything lined up the way it was supposed to. If you’re a looking for a great summer read, then read this book!

Chazown by Craig Groeschel Book Review

Craig Groeschel teaches readers in his book called, “Chazown” how to find their vision for their life. For many readers they might be wondering what a Chazown is. Chazown (pronounced khaw-zone) defined in the Hebrew language is a dream or a vision. Craig leads us in defining God’s vision for your life. You have the power to choose what you do with your own life. He helps identify your vision and how to find out what God is telling you to do with your life. He provided examples from his own life about how he began his call to ministry. Craig will show you how to find your core values and what you stand for in your own life. He also teaches you how to find out your spiritual gifts that can be used to further Christ’s kingdom. He will lead readers to uncover and relook at what has happened in your past and how that works in determining your vision for your life. He will help you tie together your spiritual gifts, your past, and your core values to find your Chazown.

In Chazown, Craig will explore with you and encourage you to continue or gain a relationship with Christ. He will show readers how health has a big part to play in your vision. He will give you advice on your finances. He wants you to have good relationships with the people in your life.

He instructs you to write down and keep a journal after each section of the book. He provides exercises to help you find your vision, your core values, your past experiences, and your spiritual gifts. He encourages readers to make goals and stick with them.

I liked the book because it helped me to discover how to redefine my vision and continue on to what God has called me to do. I kept a journal and tried to answer all the questions that Craig listed after each section of the book. Sometimes the questions will make you stop and think and that is fine. You just need to have a vision for your life.

Craig strongly persuades you to read and listen to this verse from the Bible. “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Proverbs 29:18 KJV

I would recommend the book to every teenager, college student, and adult. I would recommend this book especially if you don’t have a vision for what God wants you to do with your life. It is so important to know which direction of your life you would like to go. Even if you have a vision this book will help you to stay determined and keep following your vision. It will help anyone to tap into God’s will for your life.

The book also has a neat interactive website to help you in your process to finding your vision. This website has great resources for you to use.
