I liked how she covered the important topic of PTSD and I can tell she must have done a lot of research in order to understand PTSD fully. She described in great detail how the main character, Jake Porter struggled with living with PTSD after what he experienced in the military. I enjoyed the romance between Lyndie and Jake and I connected with the intense connection they had as kids and how Lyndie desperately wanted it to return. Their childhood best friend relationship reminded me of a country song by Miranda Lambert, “Me and Charlie Talking” and it was constantly in my head while reading this book.   My favorite character would be Jake because he was the loner and he was the guy who refused to get close to any one out of fear that they would die and he would be heartbroken again. He struggled with guilt after losing some of his buddies in the terrible military accident. I liked how she showed the power of prayer and the importance of waiting on God’s timing. I have read a few books by Becky Wade and her writing keeps getting better and better. I can’t wait to read more in the Porter Family series! I hope she continues it for a few more books! I also hope she shares more on a minor character Amber. Becoming a Spiritually Healthy Family: Avoiding the 6 Dysfunctional Parenting Styles by Michelle Anthony Blog Tour and Book Review

My review:  I would recommend this life changing book to every single parent who are seeking information about how to be the best parent they can be. Even though I'm single and I don't have kids yet this book taught me a lot about parenting, leading our children in the right direction, and instilling Christian principles in their lives. I also plan to reread this book whenever that time does come. Michelle Anthony writes in a practical way where parents can connect with. I really like how she walked readers through the six different dysfunctional parenting styles. She also helps readers to improve in their Christian parenting. My favorite chapter was entitled, "A Time to Bless" because she included powerful blessings from scripture that we can declare over our children's life. This is something I strongly believe will tremendous benefit children and it could literally change their entire lives. I really loved the blessing of being an overcomer based off of 1 John 4:4 and 5:4. This one reminds our kids that through Christ they have the victory and they are more than a conqueror. I also enjoyed that she recommended parents to read Numbers 6:22-26 aloud over their children. Numbers 6:22-26 is a passage about God blessing them, protecting them, God being gracious to them, and giving them peace. Speaking out loud blessings over my children is something that I want to do for my future children. I also liked the father's nod and this is something every man is longing for from his father. This is something I will strive to do for my kids. I want to make sure they know I'm proud of them. Deeper Than Red: A Novel by Sue Duffy Blog Tour

Deeper Than Red is the final book in the magnificent Red Returning trilogy. I immensely loved how Sue Duffy was very descriptive in describing the numerous suspense-filled scenes. I thought she did a superb job in intertwining all three books in the trilogy together and she is a very creative author. Having read the other two novels, Sue Duffy did a major switch up that honestly, I didn’t see coming in this book. She added a psychic and an occult aspect to the plot and it helped to reinforce that we are in a fight against spiritual forces but the light always wins. I like how this novel touched on faith and how they had to trust God and rely on their faith during tough times. I also liked that it had some romance spread throughout along with a political theme.

I would recommend this series to anyone who loves a fantastic thrilling trilogy! And readers won’t be disappointed with the action packed mystery! I’m excited to see what new trilogy Sue Duffy comes up with next!

My Review:

Friend Me was an enjoyable fiction novel that could easily become true in today’s times. I liked how the plot presented the dangers of technology and how virtual friend online software could be the next social media outbreak. I can see how people are turning more and more to technology and the internet than into engaging in person to person conversations. This novel was a little frightening it because it could cause our marriages and relationships with friends to be replaced with creating our own perfect person online. I enjoyed how much suspense John Faubion included and the way he portrayed the character Melissa was just plain eerie. The book makes me even more determined to protect my future marriage and to appreciate my friendships even in more depth. It’s terrifying that in the future you might have to safe guard your marriage from virtual creations. If you’re looking for a book that will keep you engaged and on the edge of your seat, then read this book!

The Prodigal: A Novel By Michael Hurley Blog Tour and Giveaway

The Prodigal is a book that contains many different facets and layers in portraying the hidden tales and mixing it with a contemporary twist. The book begins with a background scene in Greece in 1851 and a father is devastated that his daughter is running off with a young attractive boy. The father hates how the boy has talked his daughter into committing the worst type of sin imaginable, and she freely chose to do so. They steal a ship called the Prodigal and this builds the plot concerning the ship. Next, readers are introduced to the setting on Ocracoke Island, North Carolina. The book contained four main characters: Aidan, Marcus, Ibrahim, and Molly and their different stories are told throughout the novel.  

 

I would recommend this amazing novel to anyone who enjoys reading mystery. Michael Hurley is a brilliant writer in connecting all of the characters back to each other. I was lured in by his exciting descriptive writing style and he knew how to capture reader’s attention. I liked how he wrote each character in a way that revealed their humanness and flaws. They were easy to relate to and I could effortlessly recognize people’s personalities that I have encounter in my own life and tie them back to the story. The overall mystery was shocking and I never saw the depth and the importance of the ship until the very end. I liked how the book composed of some Biblical aspects positioned in the book. The way Michael described sailing made me feel as if I was travelling along! If you’re looking for an excellent written mystery packed novel, then read this book!

Why serve?

Our culture puts an extravagant amount of energy into raising kids who will grow up to feel good about themselves. In schools, clubs, homes, and even at church, adults have made a decided effort to bolster children’s “self-esteem” –not by actually encouraging kids do something that’s worthwhile, but by simply telling them they are important and valuable.

At the turn of the century, researchers predicted that the next generation would respond to these efforts of raising self-esteem by being filled with optimism and civic duty. Unfortunately, recent research shows the opposite. Kids coming of age today are more self-centered, disrespectful of authority, and depressed than ever before.

In a very real way, then, the best path toward building selfless, confident children is to help and encourage them toward a growing and thriving faith in God. And that includes obedience to what God teaches—not because it makes kids feel good, although it often does—but because they’re following God’s instructions to love Him and serve others. That builds a faith they can count on and carry with them into adulthood—which is the greatest gift any parent can bestow on their child.

The Dog that Talked to God and The Cat that God Sent By Jim Kraus Blog Tour and Book Review

My Thoughts on The Dog that Talked to God:

 

 

 

The main character, Mary Fassler is an editor and writer. Her husband, Jacob and her son get into a terrible car accident and is tragically killed. She decided to adopt a dog named Rufus. She soon discovered that her dog can have conversations with her. Rufus begins to talk to her about her dating life and how it’s time to get back out there and try to find love again.

 

I would recommend this delightful book to anyone who is a dog lover or who enjoys pets. I have grew up with dogs my whole life and I immensely connected with this story. The book displayed the unconditionally love of a dog and how they truly are “man’s best friend”. I loved how the author wrote the character of Rufus to be like God. Mary unloaded all of her fears, stress, doubts, and her feelings by talking through them with the dog and the dog assisted her in working through her emotions. I could use a dog like this in my own personal dating life! The book contained a message of hope that things can turn around even after your world falls apart. If you’re looking for a book that will inspire you to keep believing that good things can still occur, then this book is for you!  

 

My Thoughts on The Cat that God Sent:

 

The main character, Jake Wilkerson is a young pastor who finds a stray cat with a torn in his paw. He takes the cat to the vet and meets the rude veterinarian, named Emma. Jake lets the veterinarian pick out a name for the cat and she named him Petey. She can’t stand Christians and she claims that they are all narrow-minded and judgmental. Jake decided to go on a number of dates with her. Then Jake meets Tassy who is a young runaway and she is needing help. Will Jake be able to change and lead Emma to Christ?

 

I would recommend this outstanding book to anyone who has a special fondness of cats and pets. I haven’t had any cats as pets but I have enjoyed playing with my grandparents cats. I loved the idea of having a cat on a mission that God has sent to complete His extraordinary purposes in their lives. The book covered a difficult topic that some believers struggle with, “Should believers date non-believers?” I immeasurably appreciated that this book was written for today’s times. This book will lead readers into believing that pets can vastly impact us and be a treasure sent from Heaven!

Stress Test By Richard L. Mabry, M.D. Book Review

Stress Test is a fiction novel that contains loads of suspense for the reader to enjoy. This is the first book that I have read by Richard L. Mabry. I can truly declare that he knows how to write an intricate plot that will engage readers into the very last page. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to read medical, mystery, suspense, romance, and adventure filled novels. I deeply connected to Matt’s, who is a likeable doctor and he is exceedingly determined to save the patients’ lives. He has a dilemma and is being framed for a murder that he didn’t commit. I extremely don’t like when the innocent are being set up and injustice is taking place. Sandra is a lawyer that is struggling to find love and she prays to God one day to guide her in finding her husband if he even exists. God heard her prayer and throughout the book you will see if God does indeed have a husband for her. She also represents Matt and she tries to prove that he truly is innocent of the murders.   I immensely loved the Faith aspect of the novel, Matt wasn’t trusting God and didn’t really understand God’s love for him. But when circumstances began occurring and he has no one else but God to turn to. He starts praying again for the first time in years to be set free from the murder charge. Sandra on the other hand was a professing believer and has trouble dating doctors because of her last bad relationship with a doctor. Both of these characters have a lot they must overcome and deal with. The novel gave me encouragement that I should continue seeking God in finding my wife and the book displays that God can turn anything around. The book also had massive amount of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. If you’re looking for a new exciting fiction novel to read, then this one will definably influence that God is in ultimate control and he can turn everything bad to good.
