In Soul Cure, Gregory Dickow explored the dynamics of your soul and everything that emcompress it. He discussed how we can work towards healing our soul and dealing with our soul thieves. These soul thieves included depression, shame, self-hatred, fear, guilt, and much more. In the book, he will share many different tips and suggestions on handing our negative emotions. He explained the power of the mind and how it is the single most important thing that we need to learn to control and think right. He opened up throughout the book about how the devil come to steal, kill, and destroy and how he is doing just that. He shared that 1 million people successful commit suicide every year. 20 million Americans are battling addictions. Many are trying to deal with emotional stress and to find freedom or something to stop the pain that is going inside us.

In the book, he shared his own struggle with depression and feeling so alone. He also lost his best friend, Randy to suicide and this left him with very few friends left. At age sixteen, he was hooked on drugs and alcohol. He didn’t know his worth or value. He revealed how his coworker reached out to him and brought him to Bible study and this was his real encounter with Christ. He accepted Christ and the light started clicking on and he was changed.

I would recommend this life changing book to anyone is seeking healing from the pains of life and they want emotional healing. One of my favorite teachings, he discussed was the power of thankfulness and how this is the key that drives miracles. I immensely loved that outlook on that. He looked at Jesus feeding the 5,000 and raising Lazarus from the dead. I loved how he shared we need to know that we are loved and that we need to believe before we see. He included a special check-up and how thankfulness affects us positively. All of these are awesome benefits we will received if we choose to practice thankfulness. I also loved how there was a special section after each teaching about declaring and praying to help readers in refocusing their life.

Food Triggers: Exchanging Unhealthy Patterns for God-Honoring Habits by Amber Lia Book Review

In Food Triggers, Amber Lia explored 31 food triggers that trap us into unhealthy eating and how we kept repeating the same cycle over and over. Some of these triggers included, “when you feel defeated before you start, bored, lack portion control, doctor tells you to lose weight, community means food, hit a plateau, feed your emotions, lonely, fixated on the scale”, and much more. She explained how she was a cross country player in college. During this time, she carried extra weight. By the time, she met her husband she was healthier and a bodybuilder. She even ran three miles regularly. She stated how she was in control of her health and not controlled by gluttony. She revealed how all of that changed within ten years and had five pregnancies and a miscarriage. She explained how she felt her metabolism was stuck. She was struggling with keeping up with all four of her sons and was overweight. She studied scriptures and learned to renew her mind and what caused her to overindulge. One of the first things, she looked at was the why behind why we want to get healthy it could be to get more energy or get off diabetes medications. She shared that she lost over 60 pounds and her husband was able to lose a lot of weight as well.

Another area, she explored was portion size. She began to study the serving size and what was in foods. She even placed measuring cups and spoons and taught her children how to get the correct serving size for meals and snacks. They use smaller plates for meals and use measuring spoons for condiments. They share meals when they go out to eat to eat less. She also looked at Exodus 16 and how they were complaining that they would die in the desert. God provided them quail and they were told to eat but not to keep the leftovers. Some of them kept the leftovers and they were filled with maggots. She compared to how this has led us to having to deal with cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.

I would recommend this awesome book to anyone who is struggling with food triggers and they are ready to break free. I liked how this book was written where readers could tackle a different trigger a day for a month. I liked how the book explored multiple different areas and tips to control our overeating indulges. One of my favorite chapters was the one on sugar and how much it controls us and how a study was conducted on rats portraying how they were addicted to Oreos and how it activated more neurons in their pleasure center than when they tried cocaine.  This was very shocking and very eye opening on how much we are addicted to craving something sweet. I loved how she shared how she was able to lose her desire for sweets and reply on more natural foods. I immensely enjoyed how she included a lot of tips on how to beat your food triggers and how to also to grow your spiritual appetite. This is also a special prayer at the end of each chapter.

100 Prayers Every Christian Should Know: Build Your Faith with the Prayers that Shaped History by Bethany House Book Review

100 Prayers Every Christian Should Know is a brand-new book by Bethany House enclosed as a collection of prayers. The book discussed different prayers from key figures in history. Some of these included presidents, theologians, church leaders, and Bible characters. The book featured prayers from, “Dwight L. Moody, Charles Spurgeon, Harriet Tubman, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, William Tyndale, Andrew Murray, John Calvin, Prayers for Grace for Meals, Jonah, Hannah”, and much more. Each day started by explaining who the important person was and what they did with their life. Next, there was a prayer and an explanation about why this prayer is important. The book has a few different sections of prayer such as, “prayers for peace and comfort, guidance and light in the darkest hours, changed hearts, nation to be moved, face of pain and grief, faith to be strengthened, humility”, and more.

I would recommend this wonderful collection to anyone who is ready to pray prayers from past centuries. Some of the prayers were very dark in nature but they showed the honest of the time and what they were experiencing. One of these was from Harriet Tubman and how she was praying for her slave master and how she wanted God to change his heart and then it changed to if he wasn’t going to then if he would just kill him. This show us that we can be honest and truthful to God. They compared her event to Moses and how he begged for Pharaoh to release the Israelites. I also liked the presidential prayers and how they prayed for the nation. There are tons of prayers included in the book to encourage readers to dig deeper into their spiritual growth.

In the book, they explored the life of David and how he engaged in war and how we can be a warrior for Christ. This book enclosed details and information to prepare believers for the battles that we will face in the end times.

It also explored when Jesus could return and the signs that have already happened. One of the first event, we saw that Jesus could return was back in 1948 when Israel was rebirth in a day, which was foretold in scripture. They revealed a poll done by the Lifeway Research and how they discovered that nine in ten pastors saw some current events such as the Covid-19 would match an event that could lead to Jesus return. The book included a checklist of do and don’t and also an end times check list. The book also looked at the rise of the antichrist and his rise to power and how he could be among us today. Each chapter also enclosed a section entitled, “military prepping principles, believer’s prepping principles, and strategic spiritual exercises”.

I would recommend this awesome book to anyone is ready to prepare for the end times and they are ready to gear up for what is to come. I immensely enjoyed the military aspect that the authors brought to the end times scope and they were able to emerge an impactful guide to prepare readers. I loved how they included countless scriptures to explain what the future is going to become and what we can expect. I enjoyed how they connected current events such as the Covid-19 virus and how this event has stopped the world in its tracks. I also liked the checklist they include about how we can prepare our house with supplies in case of pre-tribulation times. I liked how the book contained the spiritual training we need to become a warrior in the final battle.

How to Forgive When It Feels Impossible by Peter Horrobin Book Review

In How to Forgive When It Feels Impossible, Peter Horrobin explored the topic of forgiveness and how we can choose to forgive ourselves for our mistakes and to forgive others for their shortcomings. He begins the book by explaining that many of us have locks on our hearts and we block others from entering our homes and hearts. Many of us are dealing with painful events and we don’t know how to do deal with unresolved unforgiveness. He described to readers that there is a better way and there is a master key that Jesus gave us. The master key is prayer and most importantly the prayer of, “father forgive them because they don’t know, what it is that they are doing”. Jesus prayed this over the people who crucified him and drove nails into his skin. Jesus taught us how to forgive others who harm us and curse us. Peter revealed how this act of prayer can transform our relationship with Christ and how the Holy Spirit power can be released into our lives. He discovered the four main areas: reputation, sexuality, time, and health where people can be robbed of and the only thing we can do is learn to heal from the pain. In the book, he shared the eight steps to gain freedom and to forgive and heal from the pain and hurt that you are feeling inside.

I would recommend this life changing book to anyone who needs to learn how to forgive and they are ready to seek true freedom. I liked how real and truthful Peter was in explaining the power of forgiveness and the keys that we can chose to unlock in our lives by following Jesus’ example and choosing to forgive. I liked how he included a whole chapter of personal stories about people who found healing in forgiving either themselves or someone else. The stories included being molested, abused, accidents that happened to them, parent conflicts, betrayed, robbed, and much more. One of the forgiveness stories, I was surprised to read about was the one about Jim. When Jim was a little boy, his father told him to jump in his arms off the roof. His father didn’t try and catch him and he just stepped aside and let him hit the concrete. Thankfully, Jim didn’t died but his chest was crushed and he had trouble breathing for years because of that event. After he chose to forgive his dad, he was healed and the asthma and the side effects of that event are completely gone now. This story was heartbreaking to read that a dad would purposely let harm come to his son. I enjoyed how Peter walked readers on eight steps to get freedom from the pain of the past and forgiving when it seems impossible to do so.

Her family strongly believes in living a wonder filled life and they encouraged them to imagine, dream, create, and grow. She explained how we need to let our children imagine and not to be consumed with technology. In the book, she described the rhythms and routines that they had in their families. These included morning devotionals, reading aloud time, play and pretend, afternoon reading and quiet hour, tea time, five o’clock clean up, dinnertime to discuss some of the questions about morning reading time, and then nighttime reading time. As a result, of creating an atmosphere of reading all four of their kids love to read and the whole family has written a few books. I would recommend this awesome book to anyone who is looking for a new approach to parenting and we’re wanting to nurture and open up the wonder and encourage an atmosphere of learning. I immensely enjoyed the principles she shared in how she had morning reading times and nighttime reading. She covered a wide range of topics with her children. I thought this was a great way to encourage reading in our children and to create an atmosphere of learning. I also liked how she suggested we watch out for too much technology. All of her children are grown and they didn’t have the iphones and ipads that this generation is growing up with but we can see that it’s changing our future generations. I liked how she enclosed how she was able to instill faith and character and virtues into her children lives.

The Fire of God’s Presence: Drawing Near to a Holy God by A.W. Tozer Compiled and Edited by James L. Snyder Book Review

In The Fire of God’s Presence, A.W. Tozer explored the topic of understanding who God is and how we can appreciate Him in worship and enjoy being in His Holy presence. The book looked at the story of Moses and how he ended up ruling in the high ranks in Egypt and then he fled after killing an Egyptian who attacked a Hebrew slave. He eventually encountered the burning bush and how Moses knelt in front of it. By doing this, he was able to discover who he was in Christ and he felt the presence of God. He was transformed at the age of 80 and this is the first time he got to know God. He learned that God still had a purpose and a plan for him. He would go on to set his people free and God was able to instill His love within him. He revealed how God is like fire and how this one burning bush is the most famous talked about bush ever written. In the book, he explained how the we have the lost the reverence and awe and sacredness of who God truly is. He also looked at the tabernacle and the cleansing of the blood and how it changed when Christ died on the cross for our sins. The book also looked at other fire examples in scriptures such as Elijah, Isaiah, and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego.

I would recommend this awesome book to anyone is ready to discover their identity in Christ and they want to learn how to enjoy being in God’s presence. I enjoyed how colorful the cover of the book was its enclosed in a glossy orange fiery looking design and I believe it will cause readers to want to dive into the teaching of A.W. Tozer. I immensely liked how A.W. Tozer explored the story of Moses and what we can learn to see in the burning bush and how we can be in awe of His Holy presence. I liked the chapter that discussed the walls that are keeping us from God’s presence. Some of these included self-will, religious ambition, fear, money, and people. A lot of these are preventing us from seeing the smiling face of God. I liked how he shared how we can get to know Christ deeper and how we can be changed in His presence. I loved how he explored the topic of fire and how God showed Himself through fire in the Bible and we saw lives transformed on the other side of the fire.

Unshackled: Breaking the Strongholds of Your Past to Receive Complete Deliverance by Kathy DeGraw Book Review

In Unshackled, Kathy DeGraw has written a book about deliverance and how to find true freedom from strongholds that are holding you back from the life Christ died for you to have. She begins the book by sharing a prophetic word that Jesus put on her heart to tell His people. In it, she shared how God wants us to have abundant joy and she explored how we can obtain freedom and deliverance. She begins each chapter with an assessment to assist readers in finding out how much they are struggling in an area. Each chapter contained a section called, “walking out your deliverance”. In it, she had scripture verses about the topic, spirits to discern and cast out, prayer of activation, and declarations to speak out. She covered ten strongholds such as, “fear, pride, anger, rejection, victim and poverty mentalities, addictions”, and much more.

One of the first topics, she explored was fear and how fear can come into our lives. Fear is able to enter our lives through generational curses, soul ties, trauma, accidents, and near-death experiences. They can in turn become strongholds of fear over our lives and keep us from living our lives the way Christ intended. She encouraged readers to deal with the fear strongholds now where they don’t get past down until future generations. The way for freedom is seeking inner healing and letting Him change our mind, behaviors, and habits. She explained to readers they have to learn from God’s word who they are in Christ and we need to plead the blood of Christ over our lives and our children. She opened up about some of her own fears such as her fear of dying in a car accident and she would always think something was wrong with her car. She learned how to release the fear over her life and trust God to protect her.

I would recommend this awesome book on anyone who is ready to be free and they are tried of strongholds controlling their lives. This book has the potential to assist readers into releasing the chains of strongholds that is holding them back from life. Most of us have dealt with fear, pride, anger, rejection, and addictions and we all long live a joyful and free life. I immensely enjoyed how she explored many different topics and how she included tons of scriptures to help readers into breaking strongholds. I also liked how she shared prayers and declarations that readers can say out loud over their life to combat the power and schemes of satan. This is a book meant for readers to keep close by and speak out declarations and scriptures whenever they are dealing with certain issues.  I truly believe if readers will take the time to declare over their lives and speak out, and believe that God will help them overcome their strongholds we would see a big change in their lives and even in the entire world!
