Something Greater: Discovering God's Best Right Where You Are by Jentezen Franklin Book Review

In Something Greater, Jentezen Franklin has written a book to remind readers that we are living in the acres of diamonds and that greater is coming our way. This book is a re-released his popular book, Acres of Diamonds in a mass market paperback edition. He begins the book by explaining how a diamond is created. It takes time, pressure, and heat. He described how when we go through our trials that they serve a purpose and we need to learn to stay and become more fruitful. This will cause us to learn more and do more and it will bring forth a diamond. He revealed the powerful impact the word stay can have on our lives and cause a positive change reaction. He reminded readers that they grass isn’t always greener somewhere else. He looked at Ecclesiastes and how it explained how there is a time for everything, to laugh, live, gather, plant, and much more. He also explored the Prodigal son and how he left home in search of a more fulfilling life. He strongly cautioned believers to not run from churches, jobs, relationships, and not to be so quick to move. He explained how the very thing we are leaving someone else would love to have.

One of my favorite stories, he shared was about our tattered dreams. God is still on the throne and able to bring our dreams to pass. He told the story of billionaire real estate mogul, Steve Wynn. He purchased a painting by Picasso, the Le Reve estimated to have been worth for about $60 million. Wynn had an eye disease and this affected his peripheral vision. He tried to sale it years later and at the sale he fell and tore the painting. He ripped the painting that was now worth $139 million. He was able to find a restorer and he fixed the torn painting. He later sold it for $155 million. Even though it was torn and restored it was now worth more than ever. He used this story to encourage us that even torn dreams can be restored. God’s word even declares that He will repay you the years that the locusts have eaten. Our failure doesn’t have to be final. Jesus still promises to give us life more abundantly.

I would recommend this wonderful book to anyone who is ready to learn more about how we can do something great right where we are. We can learn about our hidden potential and discover God’s plan for our lives. Another favorite thing he shared was the chapter on jobs and how God has us right where he wants us. We may be planted where God currently wants us to be. If we choose to leave, we may miss our acres of diamonds. One of the most powerful lessons, he shared was on how we are located right where we need to be for a reason. He revealed how we don’t need to forget that we have influence over our employees and coworkers. We can in turn use this to reach others for Christ. Franklin explained how we are able to reach others for Christ in ways he couldn’t do as a preacher. He spent a great deal in stating that Jesus also did work and how we can do our jobs with excellence. This is the second time I have read this book. I read the first edition and this is a great reminder of the message of this book. I liked how this edition was smaller and easier to carry around with you for quick reference.

Overcoming When You Feel Overwhelmed: 5 Steps to Surviving the Chaos of Life by Jentezen Franklin Book Review

In Overcoming When You Feel Overwhelmed, Jentezen Franklin explored different steps we can use when we feel like giving up and how we can be an overcomer. He divided the book up into three sections. The first one discussed how we are destined to overcome and how we are a part of biblical prophecy. The second section was about 5 steps for being an overcomer. Some of these included, “look within, look to Him, look out, and much more. The third part is about the four characteristics: fear, depressing, discouragement, and lust of the end time spirit that is present. He ends it with discussing how new life can began and we can gain freedom.

One of my favorite chapters went over the topic of depression. He looked at the life of David and how he was anointed king by Samuel. King Saul tried to kill him. He explained how he was anointed and weak at the same time. He looked at how the devil doesn’t want us believing that we are in fact anointed. I also liked how he looked at Dr. Daniel Amen and how he came up with the acronym ANT (Automatic Negative Thoughts). He compared our thinking to like ants and how our negative thoughts infest our brains and how they destroy our thought life. He shared a personal story about how he had to face his board members and how he thought he was going to get fired. They didn’t fire him but instead wanted to bless him with a new van for his family. He was afraid of the worst and it turned out to be something else entirely. He stated how he learned how he needed to focus on the positive and not let ANTS infest our minds with negative thoughts. He also shared a secret about a narrow mind and how they are always accompanied with a big mouth. I thought this was a very powerful statement.

I would recommend this life changing book to anyone who is ready to become an overcomer and they are feeling overwhelmed. I immensely liked how he looked at prophecy and how instead we need to be more concerned with who we are when He returns. One of my favorite sections was the one on the four characteristics of the evil spirit, Jezebel. I appreciated how he discussed each of the four ways the devil is trying to control us and to keep us overwhelmed in our problems. This book will assist readers in overcoming whatever challenges that they are facing.

Acres of Diamonds: Discovering God’s Best Right Where You Are by Jentezen Franklin Book Review

In Acres of Diamonds, Jentezen Franklin has written a book to help readers to unlock their hidden potentials right where they currently are. He encouraged readers to not quit and to stay right where you are. Most of us are always wanting something more and we believe the grass is green elsewhere. He explained the importance of learning to stay when the going gets tough. We are willing to look for another spouse, church, job anything that will make our lives easier and possible have less conflicts and happiness. He wants believers to learn that they have diamonds inside them and that we all will face disappointments, setbacks, and trials. He explains how a diamond is made and how it takes pressure, heat, and time. And like a diamond our trials and setbacks and God can use everything to help us achieve our purpose in Christ. He shared how he had to wait for God’s perfect timing. Free Chapel had just moved into a new building and they were working to pay off the debt. Unexpectedly he received a phone call from in 1993 from evangelist, R.W. Schambach and he wanted to come preach at Free Chapel. They haven’t ever met prior to this and he shared with everyone on stage about how God told him that Franklin was supposed to be on TV. In 10 minutes, the church raised more than $138,000. He learned through this to trust God’s timing and he had to learn to be obedient. Throughout the book, he looked at different Biblical stories such as King David, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, Abraham, Jesus, and much more and how they discovered their diamonds and how they overcame their own setbacks and fulfilled their purposes.

One of my favorite stories, he shared was about thanking God for doors that didn’t open up in our lives. He shared a personal story about how his daughter rear ended a guy at a red light. The man purposely accelerated and then slammed on his brakes. She hit him and he told her it would all be okay as long as she would have sex with him in the back seat. She screamed and eventually he ran away. When the police showed up, they explained this was a new way that sexual predators were using to get victims. They later learned the dent was caused from another accident and this man has done this scheme before. Franklin opened up about how the enemy tried to use this for harm and God closed the door.

I would recommend this life changing book to anyone who is read to discover their purpose right where they are. I immensely enjoyed this book and it’s probably one of the best books that I have read. I connected with how Jentezen explained the full power of staying in your marriage, staying in your job, and church. Most of us tend to run away from conflicts and we think it will be better off somewhere else and sometimes God wants us to stay put and to see the diamonds in wherever we currently are. I liked how he explored the passage of King David and how he would pray to God to open his eyes to the wonderful things around him. Franklin encouraged everyone to pause and ask God to open our own eyes to see His power and to see His vision for our lives and to witness the diamonds that already around us. If you’re looking for an inspiration book on unlocking your full potential, then read this excellent book!

The Spirit of Python: Exposing Satan’s Plan to Squeeze the Life out of You by Jentezen Franklin Book Review

In The Spirit of Python, Jentezen Franklin exposed the numerous strategies and tactics satan uses to hinder and harm Christian believers. He compared satan to a dangerous python. He revealed that satan loves to suffocate us and he is actively trying to squeeze the breathe of the Holy Spirit out of us. In the book, Jentezen Franklin shared there are signs that we are under the attack of the enemy, for instance, “weak prayer life”, “lack attack”, “old habits and lifestyle resurface”, and much more. He guides readers on how to break free from the attacks of satan and the strongholds he has placed in our lives. He also discussed the power of prayer, faith, and praise and how critical this is in dealing with satan and his maneuvers.

I would recommend this eye-opening book to anyone who is ready to stand up against satan and his schemes with their full armor of God on. This book is one of my favorite book that I read concerning spiritual warfare. I liked how Jentezen Franklin wrote very vividly in describing the way satan works and how he tries to choke the believer out of the amazing life God wants us to live. One of my favorite chapters is “Get the Snake Eggs Out” because this one talks about how satan uses our eyes, ears, and our mouths against us and he tempts us to fall into his destructive trap. Jentezen revealed that satan likes to lure people into looking at pornography, falling into sexual immorality, and being in bondage. I was amazed at the statistics he shared about the effects of pornography and how it controls so many people. I also loved how he shared how to silence the voice of satan and how to fight back against him. The Word of God is mightily strong in fighting against satan and this revealed to me the importance of speaking blessings and talking to our mountains. If you’re looking for a life changing book on spiritual warfare, then read this one!
