Kingdom Values: Character Over Chaos by Tony Evans Book Review

In Kingdom Values, Tony Evans has a written a book to call believers back into following Kingdom values and character. He begins the book by searching and describing what truth really is. Truth is the foundation of character. He explained how we are being deceived by the devil and how culture is busy feeding us lies. He looked at how satan was able to trick Eve into eating the forbidden fruit. He stated how the chaos in the world is the effect of people believing and following the devil’s lies. He shared how critical it is for us to know the truth where we don’t fall for satan’s lies. He revealed how the world is trying to cancel God and His Word. They are trying to cancel genders, morality, families, and whatever else they can think of. People reject the Bible mainly because it contradicts how they are choosing to live their lives.

The second part of the book looked at the components of Biblical character. One of my favorite topics was on gentleness. He stated how most men would hate this discussion. He explained how many relate it to weakness. Many believe you can’t have an opinion or speak up and you must become a doormat. He reminded readers that gentleness is controlled strength. He explained how we need to surrender to God and submit to Him. We need to have self-control. He described how Moses displayed meekness.

One of my favorite stories, he shared was the story about the farmer who got tired of his neighbors stealing his watermelon. He decided to outsmart them and he made a sign that said, “one of the watermelons is poisoned”. They came back the next day and crossed out one and added the word two. The farmer ended up losing his whole crop because he believed they poisoned a watermelon and he didn’t know which one they poisoned. I liked this humorous story. Another favorite story was of the 95-year-old man and the story of the golf club. I liked how he used this example and how we can have a wrong view of our abilities.

I would recommend this awesome book on focusing on our character and values and living them out like Christ did. I loved how he looked at many different components of our character and how we can grow each one. I immensely loved the discussion on truth and how satan is the author of confusion and how many of us are falling for his lies. I also loved the idea of the kindness challenge that he included at the end of the book to encourage readers to bless others each week.

I Can Be Your Friend by VeggieTales Book Review

I Can Be Your Friend is a VeggieTales story about how to be a true friend. The characteristics of a friend is someone who listens, cares, laughs, shares, and plays with you. They are there for you in the rain and the sun. The book teaches how we must forgive our friends. They might spill things, mess up, or get mad at us but we must choose to forgive them. We also should care for them when they are sick by drawing them pictures and reminding them that they matter to us. In the end, we must remember that God is our best friend who will always be there for us.

I would recommend this very touching friend’s book to anyone who is ready to become a better friend. All children need to read this book and be taught the lessons on how to care and reach out to others. I loved how it discussed forgiveness and how we must truly forgive others for their shortcomings and mistakes. It also had the important message of taking turns sharing to be the line leader, playing music, and dancing. This book contained a wonderful message on being a true friend and caring about others.

Love You S’more by Melinda Lee Raathjen Art by Rob McClurkan Book Review

Love You S’more is a children’s book about two raccoons competing to see who loves the other more. It’s centered around using s’more as a catchy phrase. It described how a marshmallow is soft like our feelings and how our hearts melt when we’re together. Our love is like graham crackers and how they hug together when you make a s’more and this is like a tight hug. They are in a contest to see who will win in their love.

I would recommend this awesome book to anyone who enjoys reading a catchy story. This one is good for ages 2-7. This one is a really cute one with illustrations and comparison between love and s’mores. I loved the camping scenes and the raccoons describing how much they love each other. This book has a great message about love and how we are like a s’more. It makes it a very friendly children’s book that kids will want to reread again and again.

All the Places We Call Home written by Patrice Gopo Illustrated by Jenin Mohammed Book Review

All the Places We Call Home is a book about all the places that she has lived- America, Jamaica, and Zimbabwe. A big part of the book is a little girl tracing the globe with her finger dreaming of one day visiting. She shared personal stories and memories about other lands and the experiences there. These can help deepen our understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

I would recommend this amazing book to anyone who is seeking a book that looks at our history and has a message about dreaming about all the places we called home. I liked how the book looked at different cultures. They also looked at how memories are made and become a part of us through the different generations. It was great seeing how this book shared stories from the grandmother and memories that will be passed down to generations.

Uniquely by Joyce Meyer Illustrated by Marcin Piwowarski Book Review

Uniquely is a brand-new children’s book about how God has made us. She begins by sharing the verse Psalm 139:14 and this one discussed how we are fearfully and wonderfully made and how we will praise God and His works. The book reminded us how we are one of a kind and a masterpiece made by our loving Creator. God loves us when we make mistakes and mess up. God has given us talents and gifts to use and to help others.

I would recommend this awesome book to all children. This book has a wonderful message that everyone needs to hear and to also live out like we believe it. I love how it teaches our children how we need to love ourselves not in a selfish way but as we are God’s chosen child. I loved how she taught children how we all have gifts and we don’t need to wish we had someone else’s gift. I also liked how it discussed what to do with others think we’re silly, weird, and they don’t want to accept us. We can choose to smile and be kind and find our true friends. I loved how colorful the pictures were and how diverse all the characters enclosed and I feel like all children will be able to relate to the message of being ourselves.

Overcoming When You Feel Overwhelmed: 5 Steps to Surviving the Chaos of Life by Jentezen Franklin Book Review

In Overcoming When You Feel Overwhelmed, Jentezen Franklin explored different steps we can use when we feel like giving up and how we can be an overcomer. He divided the book up into three sections. The first one discussed how we are destined to overcome and how we are a part of biblical prophecy. The second section was about 5 steps for being an overcomer. Some of these included, “look within, look to Him, look out, and much more. The third part is about the four characteristics: fear, depressing, discouragement, and lust of the end time spirit that is present. He ends it with discussing how new life can began and we can gain freedom.

One of my favorite chapters went over the topic of depression. He looked at the life of David and how he was anointed king by Samuel. King Saul tried to kill him. He explained how he was anointed and weak at the same time. He looked at how the devil doesn’t want us believing that we are in fact anointed. I also liked how he looked at Dr. Daniel Amen and how he came up with the acronym ANT (Automatic Negative Thoughts). He compared our thinking to like ants and how our negative thoughts infest our brains and how they destroy our thought life. He shared a personal story about how he had to face his board members and how he thought he was going to get fired. They didn’t fire him but instead wanted to bless him with a new van for his family. He was afraid of the worst and it turned out to be something else entirely. He stated how he learned how he needed to focus on the positive and not let ANTS infest our minds with negative thoughts. He also shared a secret about a narrow mind and how they are always accompanied with a big mouth. I thought this was a very powerful statement.

I would recommend this life changing book to anyone who is ready to become an overcomer and they are feeling overwhelmed. I immensely liked how he looked at prophecy and how instead we need to be more concerned with who we are when He returns. One of my favorite sections was the one on the four characteristics of the evil spirit, Jezebel. I appreciated how he discussed each of the four ways the devil is trying to control us and to keep us overwhelmed in our problems. This book will assist readers in overcoming whatever challenges that they are facing.
