Gary Levox of Rascal Flatts has recently released his debut Christian EP entitled, One on One. The EP consists of 5 songs featuring some surprising all-star duets, including Mercy Me, Jonathan McReynolds, his own daughter, Brittany Levox, and Breland. This is also the very first-time fans have ever heard Brittany Levox on a song with her dad.
The album begins with a song entitled, “A Little Love” featuring MercyMe. This one discussed walking with the weight of the world and the problems that are going on currently and feeling weighted down. This song reminded listeners to share the love and notice the people around being a friend and a blessing to them. It described how with love and it can add a smile to someone’s face. In the bridge, it stated how love is patient, kind, gracious, divine, and how the world is going to know us by our love for one another. MercyMe adds a flavor to the song and the vocals behind both singers will add the power to help this song to become a hit.
The second song on the album is called, “Never Forget” with Jonathan McReynolds. This song is explaining the love of Christ and it reminds us of how we felt the first time we come to know a Savior. This song is a declaration on not forgetting on what Jesus has done for us. This song is a Gospel type song and I could hear this being sung in church.
The third song is entitled, “While I Wait, featuring Brittany Levox. This is song about being broken and living with fear they we can’t get rid of. This song declared that we will still praise God even while we wait on our healing, until there is no more pain, our tears dries and hearts unbreaks. One of the powerful lyrics is the one that every enemy surrounding us has to bow down to Him. This is the first time I have ever heard Brittany perform with her father and their voices song amazing together.
The four song is entitled, “All I See” with Breland. This is a song about running with the wrong crowd and how they were running from Christ. It described being selfish and focusing only on ourselves. It’s a song about focusing on the world, cars, phones, homes, and bars. This is a song about giving it all back to God and redirecting our eyes back to Him.
The five song is a song called, “The Distance” just featuring Gary Levox. This is also the first single released to radio. This song explained how there is beauty in the struggles of life and how there is grace given to us in sin. This song reminded listeners that the only true hope is found on the cross. The enemy may be telling us to quit and give up. The song stated to listeners to go the distance and inspired us to believe we can make it up the mountain, live bold and fearless, finish the race, and to trade in our doubts.
I would recommend this awesome EP album to anyone who is a Rascal Flatts fan or they are a Christian music fan. I have always enjoyed Gary’s voice in the country music band. I became a Rascal Flatts fan when they release the song, “These Days” and have been a fan ever since. As fans know, Rascal Flatts have decided to retire and disband in 2020 after 21 years together. There was also supposed to be a farewell tour that was cancelled because of COVID-19. I was excited to see how Gary would do in the Christian music field. He has previously done a few Christian songs with Natalie Grant, Jason Crabb, Steven Curtis Chapmen, and Tauren Wells (Christian recording artist and worship leader of Lakewood, Joel Osteen’s church) before deciding to pursue Christian music. Some of my top two favorite songs on the EP would be The Distance and A Little Love. I think these two both have the potential to become top radio hits. I immensely liked how the album all included positive music to encourage listeners in their walk with Jesus and it will help them refocus their lives on Jesus.

Interview with Gary Levox:
When asked about the role God has played in his musical journey, LeVox said, “I feel like God graced us with a platform where we can not only touch people’s lives through music, but by being men of God offstage too,” explained LeVox. “At those times when we are with fans that are going through something like cancer, it is so wonderful to not only sing for them but to hold their hand and pray with them. I want them to know that they have a friend in me. I’m not just some guy on the stage. I feel like Christ has put me in this position because He knew I could handle the obligation, which often means taking the time to lift someone up in prayer.”
