My Review:

It’s Christmas Again was a very family friendly movie that contained wonderful musical pieces in it. The songs were all Christian based and it even had some fast rap part in some of the songs. One of my favorite songs in the film was called, “Hey Christmas”. I felt Lawson Touliatos voice in this song reminded me so much of Michael W. Smith mixed with Matthew West. This song had a dynamic entrance in the movie and this was his first real wakeup call about Christmas. I also enjoyed the theme song of the whole movie and how it discussed the true meaning of Christmas and how they made the dance appealing to young watchers. I loved the dancing and how it had the High School Musical vibe and Glee feeling to it. I liked the message of the film and the concept of Jake dreaming and going back to the Biblical days to learn more about Jesus being born in a manager. I liked how it mixed modern elements to make it more related to teenagers of today. I loved the acting in the movie and a lot of them this is their first time staring in a movie and they picked the right actors/actress for the roles. The biggest actress fans might recognize is Leela Owen who starred in Doom Patrol and Just Beyond. I also liked the nice surprise in the film and it featured Christian recording artist, Point of Grace’s Leigh Cappillino daughter, Darby Cappillino. I didn’t realize that she was in the movie and she even sung and she has a powerful voice like her mother does.

The Essential Guide to the Prophetic: How to Hear the Voice of God by Cindy Jacobs Book Review

In the Essential Guide to the Prophetic, Cindy Jacobs revealed to readers how they can also learn to hear from God and follow His direction and leading in their lives. She reminded readers how God spoke to and through people in the Bible. Some of these included: Moses, Gideon, Samuel, John, just to name a few. At four years old, she remembers declaring to her own mother that she would another baby and it would be a girl. Her parents were done having children but God had other plans. She explained a few different stories throughout the book about how she heard from God. She explained the numerous ways in which we can hear from God and these included, a strong impression, a spontaneous phrase or message, audible voice, dreams and visions, and prophetic word spoken from someone else. In the book, she looked at six different questions we can ask ourselves on discerning if a person’s who has spoken a prophetic word over our lives is correct in doing so. She also explored the protocol for prophesying and the spiritual issues we need to watch out for that can hinder us.

I would recommend this awesome impactful book to anyone who is ready to listen to God. This book taught inspiring ways in learning how to tap into our prophetic gifts through us receiving our salvation. One of my favorite discussions were on the spirits to watch out for and to be careful in calling others these names: Saul, Jezebel, and Absalom. I thought these were very eye-opening and will help others and to create less of a blockage between a young leader and an older one. I also loved the topic of walking in integrity and she provided five ways in which we can conduct ourselves higher in our walk with God. I also loved the discussion on generational sins and how to break free from them. If you’re looking for an excellent guide on the prophetic, then read this book!

The Inkwell Chronicles: The Ink of Elspet by J.D. Peabody Book Review

In The Inkwell Chronicles: The Ink of Elspet, J.D. Peabody has written a fantasy style book set in a magical world theme. Marcus is a comic book creator of Max Courageous comics. He has two children, Everett and Bea. Their mother died when she was giving birth to Bea. Their father would actively encourage his own children to have bravery and do always do the right thing. Their actions matter more than any superheroes. One day, their father has to travel on a secret mission to Scotland and he instructed Everett that he would become the man of the house if something was to happen to him. Marcus was travelling by train when it crashed from a creature referred to as the blotter with batlike wings. He also thought they took the contains in the briefcase which was an important pen and a bottle. He is believed to be dead but the body was never found. His children set out on a quest to discover what really happened to father eventually figure out the meaning behind the important pen and in the right hands it can create imaginable things. Get ready for a magical quest!

I would recommend this exciting book to tweens around the middle school aged. It is filled with magical creatures and fantasy. I liked how they created the blotters as a represent of a dark angel type who are dead set on stealing all the ink. I loved reading about inking and how it has created amazing stories. Readers will enjoy learning and following the clues and it will keep them on the edge of their seats and engaged with the story line. I also liked the concept of the book and I think middle schoolers will love having a new series to enjoy.

The Bible Recap Discussion Guide: Weekly Questions for Group Conversation on the Entire Bible by Tara-Leigh Cobble Book Review

In the Bible Recap Discussion Guide, Tara- Leigh Cobble has created a weekly guide designed for a study group setting. This guide will take you through the whole Bible in an entire year. This is a great tool to use along with the Bible Recap. This guide’s questions are uniquely geared towards personal reflection. She explained the term God shot as a way to witness and look out for daily snapshots of God’s character and attributes. She also included five daily prayers we can pray for these enclosed, “prayer for wisdom, to correct any lies we may be believing, direct our steps”, and much more. She also has a journal and a daily study guide available.

I would recommend this weekly discussion guide to anyone who is seeking a book to help you dig deeper into the message of the Bible. It makes a wonderful addition to the Bible Recap book. I would believe you would need both to go deeper into the message. She also has free podcasts and other free resources available to grow in our knowledge in the written Word. I loved how the weekly questions are easy to read and understand just like the original Bible Recap book. This is a great resource to use in a group setting such as reading with a few friends even if it’s a Facebook/Zoom group, a Sunday school class, or a small group. I liked how simple she tries to make it for readers to understand more of God’s character.

Veggie Tales: God’s Word for Me: 365 Daily Devos for Boys Book Review

God’s Word for Me 365 Daily Devos for Boys is a new devotional featuring the Veggie Tales. Most of the pages are filled with the male characters of the Veggie Tales. All the pages are in color. Each day enclosed a verse, a short story, a thought, and a prayer for today. The back of the book also enclosed a special section called, “Know It By Heart” filled with scripture.

One of the days explored how we are commanded to wait on the Lord and be strong, and have courage. They explained how even heroes in the Bible faced their fears. Esther, Barak, Jesus chose to risk their lives but they had courage through whatever they faced. We can instead ask God for His help and He will provide His help. When we are feeling nervous and afraid to go after what God is trying to tell us, we can ask for His strength and courage. This devotional asked to look inward and figure what where we need to be brave.

I would recommend this incredible book to little boys and it would make a great devotional introduction book. It would make a wonderful gift to boys aged 3-8 and will help strengthen and grow our little boy’s faith. One of my favorite ones discussed love and there is no greater love than for a friend to lay down their live for their friends. One of the ways, we can be a better friend is to let others go first. We can remind our kids that they don’t always have to be first or to always be the leader. This can allow our friend to feel valued and we might learn something new. I love how the devotionals included practical ways to grow in our relationship with Christ and others.

Veggie Tales: God’s Word for Me: 365 Daily Devos for Girls Book Review

God’s Word for Me 365 Daily Devos for Girls is a new devotional featuring the Veggie Tales. Most of the pages are filled with the female characters of the Veggie Tales. All the pages are in color. Each day enclosed a verse, a short story, a thought, and a prayer for today. The back of the book also enclosed a special section called, “Know It By Heart” filled with scripture.

One of the devotionals discussed the faith of a tiny seed. In scripture, we are reminded that if we have faith as small as a mustard seed that we can declare to the mountain to move and it will move. There is nothing impossible with God. This day talked about planting a seed and how we can plant just a small seed and watch it grow into a fruitful fruit, plant, vegetables, flower, or tree. Our faith can be small and we can still grow it by reading God’s word and learning everything we can about God. We can also go to church and pray to help us grow in Christ’s teachings.

I would recommend this insightful devotional to any parent or grandparent that has little girls. I believe it would be a great tool for girls aged 3 to 8. This could be a wonderful devotional for parents to read together with their little girls at bedtime or even early in the mornings before school. I love how colorful the book is and how it will engage our children to want to learn the principles found in scripture. One of my favorite days explored Zechariah and how he was asked by people what God wanted them to know. He told them about kindness. It explained how powerful kindness is and how it can change others’ lives for the better.
